I approached the idea of a yoga DVD with great skepticism, as a lot of fitness & workout DVDs tend to be just money-making ploys featuring Z-list celebrities, rather than helping you achieve anything. Thankfully this DVD is different!
I've just completed the workout for the fourth or fifth time, and it really does make a difference. My New Years Resolution was, as always, to improve my fitness. However, you can only go to the gym so much before it starts to drag. I think buying a DVD like this and following it, as well as other forms of exercise (like a gym workout) makes getting fit so much more fun, as you're not doing the same thing over and over again.
The beginning set, the spinal series, is great and really helps loosen you up. I'm a 21year old male with an OK level of fitness, however I've always been a bit unflexible. The spinal series exercises are great for loosening your spine and leave you feeling refreshed.
The Tibetan Rights section is challenging, however I would urge all beginners like myself to give it a go. I've gotten the hang of all of them except the camel pose, which I have to take a break doing.
The content of the DVD is flawless, however things like corny music and patronising presenters can ruin an otherwise great workout DVD. Luckily, this DVD has neither. The music fits perfectly and is relaxing, and there are no distractions on screen, it's very simple - Ana Brett doing the exercises. The angles are great too, so you can see exactly how you're supposed to do each position or pose.
Ana and Ravi are very likeable and not in the slightest patronising. They obviously have a great passion for kundalini yoga, and their natural charisma makes you want to do more (which is the philosophy of kundalini!)
Overall a great dvd for beginners who are wanting to try something a little different, I feel more relaxed after each workout and my stomach is getting more toned as a result. Top marks!
