I have most of the Ana and Ravi DVDs and had steered clear of this one because of the mixed reviews on Amazon.com - I thought maybe they were diluting the kundalini yoga elements too far. I thought maybe it was going in too far an aerobic direction and may not be authentic to kundalini yoga. However, this has become one of my favourites.
There are two main elements to the DVD - core and upper body strengthening, and kundalini dance flow. To be honest I originally thought that just the yoga sections were appropriate for my home practice, and was dismissive of the dance sections. Well, the core and upper body sections are great - challenging, but really deliver the results I was looking for, to strengthen both those areas of my body so I could practice fuller length sets.
This morning I tried the cardio dance set as well, and it was so much fun. I was also pleased to see that this dance method was endorsed by Yogi Bhajan, and it was similar to the Shakti Dance that I have enjoyed so much. The dance does test coordination and stamina, again both areas that I need to work on, so all in all this DVD ticks all my boxes! Moreover, it was incredible fun, and you can't ask more than that.
I'm now definitely interested in Ana and Ravi's 'Dance The Chakras' DVD, which I hope will deliver more of the same.
