Product Description

Quiet, safe, simple, attractive and cooks in approximately 1/3 time of conventional methods;18/10 stainless steel with solid aluminium superthermic sandwich base;Suitable for all heat sources, including induction;Spring-loaded precision valve, integrated lid locking and 3 safety release systems;Made in Switzerland, 10-year warranty

Manufacturer's Description

Whether you are cooking soups, meat, vegetables or potatoes, or even sterilising babies bottles, everything is more relaxed with the Kuhn Rikon Duromatic pressure cooker and it is up to 3 times faster than conventional cooking methods too. Risotto in 7 minutes? Creme Caramel in 10 minutes? No problem with the Duromatic.

This 3.5 litre Kuhn Rikon Classic Pressure Cooker with long handle has a timeless design, is easy to use and is a practical classic.

The aluminium heat-conducting base is especially thick and ensures rapid and even heat absorption on all heat sources, including induction. Three safety release systems and stay cool plastic fittings are all included in the design for your safety in the modern busy kitchen.

The interior of the pan features 1/2 and 2/3 fill level indicators. You can brown meats in the pan before the lid is locked on, or use the pan without the lid. Easy positioning triangles allow you to close the lid with the minimum of fuss, whilst all models in the Duromatic range feature the fully-automatic locking system which prevents opening while there is still pressure in the cooker. As the food begins to boil, any air present in the pressure cooker will firstly escape through the spring-loaded pressure valve and then the valve cap will move up. The pressure indication lines become visible and you are able to cook effortlessly at low (0.4 bar) or high (0.8 bar) pressure by adjusting the heat. You can then just enjoy the peace and quiet and once your food inside is ready, the pressure can be released in three safe and easy ways.

Cooking with the Duromatic takes about 1/3 of the usual cooking time, with an energy saving of up to 70%. This saves you money and is also good for the environment. Vitamins are sealed in, instead of boiled away, vegetables keep their bright colours and flavours are so intense less seasoning is needed.

Pressure cooking can be daunting, but the Instruction Manual included with your new purchase includes an extensive table of cooking times as well as cleaning and care recommendations to get you started and enjoying the benefits of this heavyweight, stainless-steel beauty. And if you needed any more encouragement to get cooking, you can also download a Fresh Food Fast recipe booklet from www.kuhnrikon.co.uk which includes at least 20 delicious ideas, including tips on how to use your new pressure cooker to produce jams and chutneys, Christmas pudding and Curried Chicken Casserole in a fraction of the normal time.

The cookware is guaranteed for 10 years against faults, but excludes normal wear and tear. Replacement parts are available separately.

In an attempt to reduce our energy use, we have decided to prepare meals in a pressure cooker. The results are outstanding, Goulash in 25 mins meat tender delish. Sprouts cooked to perfection in 6 mins. You cannot go wrong with this item. Every kitchen should have one (or two!!). Quality build as you would expect from the Swiss. Ease to use and so quite. Unlike the hissing monster of the past. Well worth the investment to own the rolls royce of pressure cookers

I owned a pressure cooker before and never really got on with it; Big and noisy. I purchased this one for cooking rice and pulses quickly without steaming the kitchen windows. I also needed one that would work on my induction hob. This one is more compact making it easier to store. The size is ideal for just 2 people but would cook enough for more. The instructions are clear and the chart for individual foods very helpful. Cooks brown rice in 18 minutes without sticking to the bottom of the pan! Is also very quiet compared to my earlier pressure cooker.

I had a Prestige pressure cooker for many years & it performed well but as I got older I found it hard to lift. My husband didn't like the "hissing" noise it gave out & thought we would one day be blown up! I had seen reviews of the Kuhn Rikon in several places so went for it.
It is worth every penny. It cooks quickly & stew is beautifully tender. It DOES NOT hiss loudly & is so easy to use & clean. This size is ideal for two of use but should hold enough for more.

Fast and quiet, especially in combination with an induction or gas hob. Generally robust, but need to take care of the valve housing cap, as it's plastic. If the cap does fail, it doesn't affect the functionality, as it seems only to slightly deflect any steam released by the valve
