I've been using a little plastic food mill made by Moulin for some time now. I like it a lot, but it is relatively small, so it is slow to use, and the body (which is made entirely of white plastic) has long since become stained from use. With the tomato plants in my newly-expanded garden coming into full production, I was hoping to replace it with the Kuchenprofi, which is all-metal, far larger, and comes with four strainer disks instead of the Moulin's three.
But while the Moulin's disks fit very snugly in the plastic frame, those of the Kuchenprofi left a discernable gap all around the edges that was actually wider than the openings of the finest sieve - I can easily see light shining through the gap. And while the sweeper arm of the Moulin makes good contact with the sieve disks, forcing as much material as possible against the disks, the Kuchenprofi sweeper arm rides well above the disks, allowing the food to simply slide around over them. The result is that the watery liquid from the tomatoes passes through but the meaty pulp does not, so it is useless for making sauces.
I had hoped the Kuchenprofi would be the next upgrade to my kitchen tool chest. Instead I'm returning it and continuing the search.
