Bought this item to replace my 3rd broken Ipod touch. It's not a touch, but it doesn't claim to be. It is what you want from a music player. It's easy to load music. I was even able to load my music from my itunes account by converting them within itunes to mp3 then dropping them into the music folder in Kubik. The video player is good too. The memory is outstanding and having the ability to increase by another 4gb is genius. Easy to use, plug and play. The touch screen is responsive and once you get use to it easy to navigate. Do go into the touch screen settings and calibrate, this will help prevent any missed touches.

Kubik Edge II 8GB 2.8" Touch Screen MP3 & Video Player with Built-in Camera & YouTube Player
This is a fantastic little gadget, utterly versatile and a perfect travel companion.
It might not be as flashy as something by Apple, but it does a whole lot more, for a whole lot less!
I've added a 4gb mini SD card to expand the memory to 12gb and I've got about 45 movies, 800 songs, all
my photo's and a book's worth of text doc's. Also a great calculator, stop watch and FM radio with excellent
sound quality.
If you are thinking about buying one, just do it, you wont be disappointed.

Verified Purchase
I bought this for my husband as a replacement for his iPod,(which he has never been impressed with)and this item seemed to fit the bill very well (my thanks to all the previous reviewers of this item). His overall reaction is that this is much better value than the iPod and a great little unit to use. I have listed his comments below:

Pros:
1. No nasty iTunes software to mess around with and uses the generic MP3 file format (rather than the Apple WM4)
2. Easy to use and set up.
3. A great range of built in functions
4. 8GB storage and the option to upgrade
5. Sound quality is very good (with replacement earbud headphones - the originals are ok, but for a few pounds there are much better ones available).
6. Great battery life - this takes a few charging cycles to achieve. For the first couple of charges battery life was a little shorter than expected (but I think this is mentioned in the manual).
7. Handy little manual and lots more info. available on the Kubik website.

Cons:
1. It is a shame that Kubik used the mini SD format rather than the micro SD format for adding more memory, as there is a narrower choice of cards available.
2. The unit can take a while to start up
3 You have to remember to check that the unit is switched off after charging (it seems to stay switched on), as if you don't intend to use it after charging, there is a chance that that you will be draining the battery.
4. Really needs better headphones to get the best out of it (the originals are OK and comfortable but not great). Still saying that, they are better than the appallingly uncomfortable ones that seem to come with iPods as standard.

Overall, my husband is really pleased with the Kubik Edge II and would thoroughly recommend it!!!!

I bought this for my daughter a couple of months ago after getting fed up of her breaking my hand-me-downs which had lasted me for years! She really only needed an MP3 player as she has a phone which does everything but make the tea, so I got this after reading some of the other reviews on here. She is really pleased with it, particularly the battery life which she says is excellent, and it must be as she's ALWAYS got either the phone glued to her ear or her earphones in. The camera function is adequate and she tells me the stylus that comes with the MP3 player is pretty much redundant as she is perfectly able to operate it with her fingers. The only thing she has commented on is the lack of a shuffle function which I must admit I used all the time on my iPod, so if it really hasn't got one, I can see her point. Overall though, an excellent device, and well worth the money.

This is a really nifty wee gadget. Dead easy to use. (I'm a technophobe 53 year old grandmother and got it working in two minutes!)
Really simple. Drag and drop files from your pc directly to the player. Don't need to load any software. It arrived really quickly and was well packaged. It also contained an instruction booklet with pictures. So completely idiot proof!

It also comes with a mains charger (which it did not say in the advertising blurb). (Normally expensive to buy seperately). For what it cost it is great value for an 8gb and simple to use. Have only used it for music so far but great that it can take video and text and also has a camera.
The earphones are fantastic. They sit comfortably in your ears, are very clear and no-one else can hear the music.

Would definately recommend this.

I suppose that as usual, you get what you pay for. I was looking for a replacement for my elderly Creative Zen Touch mp3 player. However unless you want a player in miniature, you seem to have no option but to go for all singing and dancing at a price. The Kubik Edge II seemed to be a good compromise and indeed sounds and behaves quite well for the price. However I bought the leather case and expansion card advertised along with the player.

The card does not fit the player unless you buy another adaptor.

The player fits nicely into the case but you cannot fit the earphone plug into the socket without first switching on the player and then closing the cover, reversing the operation when switching off. seems primitive when the case costs nearly a quarter of the player price (unless you get the discount)

Touch screen seems quite good but there is nowhere to store the stylus provided. If you have fat fingers like me then this can be a problem.

Another niggle that I have is that the player will only store tracks in alphabetical order. This means that although you can store Albums on the player, you cannot store the album tracks in album order.

I have not really tried the other features and most probably never will, although I have downloaded some family photos that are nice to carry around.

To sum up, if you are looking for a bit of music on the move, then you will probably find that this is ok, but don't expect too much.
