Bought the W995 fairly recently and despite it's sleek aesthetics and impressive build it does feel very much like a fragile bit of gear. A few drops to the floor - which is bound to happen every once in a while - and the phone would certainly take a dent, scratch or even a crack. It's smooth shape and feel makes it easy to slip out of a hand or a pocket so I had to get some kind of protection for it.
I looked at the more sleeker looking cases designed for this phone type. I didn't want anything disrupting the slide mechanism or really diminishing the neat looks & features of the phone but I think I rightly decided security was more important than it's looks.
My previous phone was the Nokia 3600 Slide and I bought the Krussell case for that about 2yrs ago. 2yrs on and it's almost in tip-top condition if a little discoloured. Most importantly the phone inside it has stayed in immaculate condition. So naturally I trusted the Krussell design and went for this case for the W995 and I'm fairly happy. Like my previous case it fits tight and a tad awkward at first, slowing down the smooth slide mechanism but not interfering with it's purpose. Obviously the more you use it the more the case adapts to the physical shape of the phone as it did with my previous Nokia slide and eventually worked with it flawlessly.
It's important buttons are exposed but the rimmed leather would protect those if dropped and I have no issues opening the case, sliding up the screen and txting or answering/making calls. Your phone will lose some of it's pretty looks but the case is made of a neatly stitched leather which is far from an eyesore.
The belt buckle swivel clip is an extra option that I choose not to use. But actually find the clip socket as a useful extra grip and gives the case a strong backbone. The clip/button that closes and secures the front part of the case to the back is easy to close/open and is fairly reliable as well and I can vouch for that as my previous Krussell case still works flawlessly.
