We are more than happy with this product, it is user friendly and the with 15 Bar pump pressure you can make the perfect cup of coffee in minutes, although it has the facility to do two cups of coffee at once we find it easier to do one cup at a time, we cannot fault this product it is good value for money and with a little practice you can get a excellent results.

I've had this machine for several months and in my opinion it produces a very good shot of espresso.

Having worked as a barista in New Zealand (where, perhaps surprisingly, the standard of coffee making is amongst the best in the world), I hope I have a good idea of what to look for. The most important aspect is the speed with which the shot is delivered and the crema. On both these aspects, with the right grind of coffee, the Krups K2 is excellent.

The Starbucks and Costas have lead to a belief in the UK that the milk should be 'foam' or 'froth'. No: what *should* happen when heating the milk is that the proteins are 'stretched' and some of the milk in the jug gains a different density and texture. You are never looking for anything foamy, there should never be any bubbles, even in your cappuccino. For this purpose the steam wand on this machine is woefully inadequate, but then again only a commercial machine can ever deliver consistent pressure for a long enough period. (By the way, if you go into a coffee shop and see the barista pouring your shot first and then heating the milk, tell them to start again! Probably the best coffee I've had in the UK is at the Monmouth Coffee Company in London.)

For those who've had problems with their machines, as some others have said this is most likely down to using the wrong coffee - look for ground coffee that is specifically for espresso machines; having coffee stuck on the head or on the rim of the handle; and/or too much/not enough coffee. There's a reliable measure in the box.

So, with my barista's hat back on for a few moments each morning, I'm very happy with this machine. Recommended.

Has been a great machine producing grood crema. It has always struggled with fine or moist coffee which consistently results in hot steam and coffee grounds being sprayed everywhere. Mine is now two years old and the seal has finally given up completely with or without coffee! Good bargain machine but dont expect it to last a lifetime.

I bought this coffee machine together with the Krups milk frothing jug and I am absolutely delighted with it. I love cappuccino's and am pleased to say that it is really easy to get shop bought quality drinks with this machine. I found that skimmed milk works best for getting really good froth and give it a good minute or so to really heat the milk through and you will get a lovely coffee at the end.

Since I bought this machine, it has been a major source of disappointment. I can say that I have experience with preparing espresso for some years now and have been using various machines, including the Isomac Giada. I got the Krups as a "second car" for the office and was looking for a budget model, but now I learned that proper espresso has its price.

The beautiful thing about the Giada is, it has a pressure gauge that helps you control how fine to grind the coffee beans to really make use of the 15 bar pump pressure and produce a nice crema.

Now imagine the product-design managers at Krups (which are very successful with their easy-serve N'espresso capsule, by the way). They don't want people to be disappointed over producing an espresso without crema, so they come up with a double sieve that will produce "crema" (or rather "froth") no matter how coarsely ground the coffee is. And this is the major design flaw with this machine! It is useless for anyone trying to produce a real espresso.

The "crema" is really the most disappointing thing, the coffee looks like a pint of Guinness when prepared in a glass. That's not my idea of espresso, that's rather the posh version of it (think of George Clooney with a moustache).

So you might wonder, crema or no crema, I don't really care as long as the taste is good. But this is another point that leaves quite a lot to be desired. I have tried different ground coffees (including Lavazza and Illy) as well as fresh ground coffee varying the coarseness. The results were equally bad, producing a sloppy brown wash with a sourly (and, due to the material used for the water tank, plasticky) taste.

I received this espresso machine as a gift for my birthday and I was very excited when I opened it. The styling is good and has a good quality feel about it.

I set it up in a prime position in my kitchen and went about making my first cup of coffee. After reading through the instructions I thought that the process seemed a little long but also thought that once I got the hang of it, it would become easier.

After filling the tank you wait for it to boil, when the indicator shows it is ready you have to attach the filter and holder without any coffee inside and go through a run through, this is because the filter and holder have to be pre-warmed otherwise the coffee will come out tepid. Once this is done you then remove the holder and add you coffee, which you then have to stamp down with the end of the coffee scoop, re-attach to the machine and then you can make you coffee.

My experience was not that great as the water started leaking whilst making the coffee, dribbling down the handle and all over the work top. The manual stated that this was due to ground coffee being left on the rim of the filter or not attached tight enough, so next cup I cleaned the edge of the filter and attached it with all my stretght but the thing still leaked.

The other problem was that the coffee inside should be solid and dry after the coffee is made but mine was wet and sloppy. The manual stated that this could be due to the wrong type of coffee, so I ended up buying two other types of coffee, Illy and lavazza but the problem was still there.

So on the whole I would say that this machine is terrible.
