I've had this coffee maker now for two years and absolutely love it.

I don't quite get complaints that it should have a permanent filter or that it keeps your coffee hot indefinately unless you turn it off - these things are quite clear when you buy it so why worry about them?

Besides, paper filters make cleaning up after quicker and simple, you just lift them out and pop them in the bin - there's nothing more off-putting than a stained, permanent filter that's had better days - eugh, but that's not a problem here. As for the need of a timer, mmm, you could always use the off-button, and if you forget, it's hardly a nightmare to return home to that unmistakeably lovely aroma and a cup of coffee ready to go.

The self-service feature means you can grab a cup when you need it and not worry about dripping coffee whilst the jug's removed - it does tend to give one apologetic drip then stop until you put the jug back.

There's an option with this machine to filter the coffee slower, increasing flavour and strength, it also means you can just about squeeze another couple of decent cups of coffee from a serving at the end by adding a touch more water.

When it comes down to it though, this coffee maker looks great on your worktop and produces a good cup of coffee, ideal.

Bought the machine a few months ago. Rather stylish and takes little space, most importantly, makes good coffee.
Not much to complain about, just two odd things. The water steam bends the top lid (where you top up with water) but it reverts back when it cools down. The closing mechanism for the filter is also a little hard, you can't close it with one hand easily. Consider the price this is not much to complain about.
Prefer this type where you change the filter, feels a bit cleaner.

However, if you have the space, money and want a top machine go for the mocha master KB741. Last for years and makes excellent coffee.

I have had this machine for almost 2 years now and I can say I have never had a problem with this machine. it warms the coffee up just enough, not too hot to spoil the taste but not to cold either like some machines I have used.
I have also recently purchased a Gaggia baby expresso maker in the hope it would produce coffee like the shops, but as of yet it hasnt. (think its probably my fault though, its quite tricky to use) But I am starting to think i should have stuck with the Krupps machine as it produces better tasting coffee. and kept the £300 I spent on the Gaggia on somthing else
It doenst drip when you take the jug out to pour a cup of coffee, and using paper filters is much easier than the built in filters. The only think I can say is wrong is that on the box it says it has a buzzer that sounds when the coffee has finished, I havent got one, not that thats a problem i gues.

Verified Purchase
I am going to send this product back as it is tainted by come sort of chemical, even after flushing the machine 5 times and then putting 2 brews of coffee through I get a burning sensation on my tongue which lasts for hours.

I note the machine is made in China I specifically bought Krups as I thought it would be made in Germany or France.I had the exact same model which gave good service for over 5 years which was made in France.

I used to have a Krups coffee machine which happily served us for more than 10 years. When I had to replace the old one, I thought of sticking with Krups and got this Krups ProAroma. Big mistake.

A big disappointment, since the quality of this Krups ProAroma is nowhere near my previous coffee machine; this one uses cheap plastic parts, made in China.
The ProAroma coffee machine stopped working in less than a year. The tank started leaking from below, with obvious safety risks.
I don't know if there are other versions of this product, but I would strongly recommend to check for other options.

Looks great and works quickly to produce great coffee. I'm enjoying some now and the whole experience of using it on a lazy morning has been so pleasurable it's persuaded me to search it out on here two years after I bought it and leave this review.
Why then, you might ask, the four stars if I'm such a fan. Well, it lets itself down a touch with some sloppy design flaws that don't affect the cofffee one bit, but means it stops short of the Germanic perfection you might expect from a name like Krups.
In short - the water gauge is prone to bubbles that mean it sometimes doesn't read right. Also, the jug pouring spout isn't brilliant, meaning regular brown splashes on my kitchen side. The top of the hot water tank is flimsy and curles up during percolation to no ill effect other than signalling the material being used is clearly too cheap for the job. Finally, very rarely, the door at the front swings open sometimes because the catch is of a poor design - not great.
However, none of this detracts from its simple stylish functionality and I have become really quite attached to it, so much so I bought the Krups bean grinder to go with it!
On the filter question - I deliberately chose a paper filter because I've had the permannent kind and it's a grotty job cleaning it between brews. Now all I have to do is spend a few pennies on paper filters every few months.
By the way I've seen it elsewhere for as little as £40 and several places for £49
