5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Espresso for the Lazy Coffee Lover 1 May 2008
I consider myself a bit of a coffee snob. When in restaurants, I scan the bar area to see if they have a proper coffee machine and an employee who might have had some barista training. I do not enjoy drip coffee. Instant is out of the question.

I also consider myself one of the laziest people on the planet, so I was dismayed to see how much work actually goes into producing a gorgeous cup of espresso. There is the measuring, temperature control, proper tamping of the coffee grounds, and the cleanup operation -- way too much work for the likes of me.

Enter the Krups Nespresso XN2001: The perfect solution for the lazy coffee lover. This lovely machine heats the water in seconds and produces a perfect cup of espresso (or Americano-type coffee if you choose) in one minute. There is no measuring or tamping because you use Nespresso's perfectly measured capsules. Granted, they are slightly expensive (about 25p each), but they are incredibly easy to use and product a perfect cup of coffee. There are lots of varieties, too, so you never get bored.

If you love good coffee but can't be bothered faffing about with actually making it, this machine is tops. I am in coffee heaven.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, Fresh, Easy, Stylish. 31 Oct 2008
Another reviewer said this was lazy coffee, and in a way, they were right, but it may be lazy, but its mighty fine.
The 'Nespresso' setup is so professional, so easy, and so stylish, it all adds to the image, and thats before you even taste the coffee.

I always struggled to get the right taste with standard coffee machines, or struggled to get any consistency with taste, or flavour, but with this machine, its been perfected by experts.

I would whole heartedly advise anybody to buy this machine, or for that matter, any nespresso machine.

Many thanks nespresso, you just made me like coffee that little bit more.

4.0 out of 5 stars krups nespresso coffee maker 6 Jun 2009
    By klynn VINE VOICE
Fantastic little machine. We bought ours about 3 years ago and it's still going strong! The variety of coffees available is great. Nespresso offer great customer service. Once a particular coffee pod or pods has been ordered from them (we do it online) it's so quick to re-order or re-choose and they are snappy with delivery. The machine has never had any problems; as long as the resevoir is clean and clicked into the unit properly, there's minimal cleaning required. We have the slate grey version and it's like a little space ship sitting on our counter-top. It's cute in a compact way but still stylish enough in design to sit quite happily unaging or growing old looking. The only thing that we'd love to have from our machine is other beverages. This is pretty much a BLACK COFFEE AND ESPRESSO ONLY MACHINE. It doesn't do hot chocolate, tea, cappuchino or late but as we're big espresso fans then i suppose it doesn't really matter all that much!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent product but... 1 April 2009
I found one of this machine in the room of an Hotel in London. Amazingly, I found myself really impressed by the result. The coffee was excellent and the machine a piece of cake to use.

I found very difficult to enjoy coffee in this country (UK). It looks like, despite the coffee and machine brand used the result goes from horrible to disgusting and that almost nobody care about that. I think the problem is the quality of the water and the lack of proper machine maintenance, plus the fact they do not use very often the espresso machines in restaurant and bars.

Therefore the Nespresso came as quite a surprise. In two days me and my wife drunk so many espressos I started to feel a bit dizzy. I imported other potential good coffee machines from Italy here but never found a good substitute to an espresso in the few places I know in Rome (even better in Naples, where the average coffee quality is rather outstanding!!!) or in some arabian country.

This system looks like an exception. The cream is perfect, the coffee is short as I like, the taste sweet, not burst. The only problem is that the flavour looks to me a bit "artificial". I can't explain this, but I think they have to add some chemicals to make the coffee looks so good. Just an impression. However, this was the best coffee I drunk in UK and the machine looks well designed for easy of use by a just-awaken customer.

    definitively a product to reccommend

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee Perfection 22 Dec 2008
    Verified Purchase
This is the perfect coffee maker. It is compact and simple to use. It is also one of the cheapest Nespresso machines on sale and yet there is no compromise on quality. I started using the Nespresso system 15 years ago with an automatic Krups machine. Now, I prefer to measure each cup individually with the manual system and the milk frother on the automatic machine was always too much bother and not very effective. To heat milk, better to use the microwave and if you want froth, the Bodum frother is very effective.

We what can I say? I brought this machine when I had just had my second child and it was a total life saver!!!! My husband said that it was a total waste of money, but I've even won him over and he now asks for his own capsuals when I place a new order. When I looked at buying mine people were complaining that the coffee wasn't hot enough and if you want it for espresso's its not going to burn your mouth, but we like latte's and americano's so I just top it up with hot water (thats what they do in the coffee shops anyway) and its perfect!!! I have to say its the best thing in my kitchen, and I have learnt a lot about coffee and would never go in Starbucks again!!!
