A great guide to the Kray Twins ground, 15 Nov 2008
This review is from: The Kray Twins Walk (Paperback)
I bought this book in 2001 when I went into The Blind Beggar. I did the walk, which was great. Unlike arranged tours, you do this in your own time, it costs nothing and you can go as often as you like. I've done this about four times and have got photos of all the key points featured. It gives people the chance to go where the Kray Twins went. You experience as well as gain knowledge of their whereabouts. This is how I discovered The Carpenters Arms, what a lovely little pub. I became a regular visitor there, the atmosphere was olde world, a typical old-fashioned East End pub. The landlady and landlord were lovely and had a lovely boxer dog. Unfortunately this pub closed, but it has now reopened, but it's different now, a modern pub. The Grave Maurice has been modernised as well. The London Pub It's a shame they take away old traditions. This book takes you back to where the Krays used to live and "Fort Vallance" at 178 Vallance Road. But the old house is not there, there are modern houses there instead. The whole walk is very nostalgic and I recommend it to any Kray fan.

The Kray Twins Walk., 6 Sep 2010
This review is from: The Kray Twins Walk (Paperback)
I bought this little book recently prior to a trip to London. The size of the book is fine as it will fit into a back pocket when out walking. The routes were described clearly and directions excellent.I cheated a little and took a cab instead of the tube to arrive at the start of the walk, but then followed the route and was able to see all the buildings as described.I also carried on down to Brick Lane market at the end of Cheshire Street ( which I would reccomend if you are in the area). We finished off with a drink in The Blind Beggar.I had a thoroughly enjoyable morning in the East End thanks to this litle book.

Well Recommended, 3 Oct 2009
This review is from: The Kray Twins Walk (Paperback)
My son has been very interested in the Krays for a long time so we bought him this book for Christmas and we all did the walk together.
The walk was very interesting and informative and a lot of the points of interest where very close together and gave you a true feeling of the lives of the Krays.
The walk takes you to the schools, public baths, boxing club and of course the pubs frequented by the Krays plus many other points of interest.
The walk ends in the Blind Begger where we were lucky enough to see Mad Frankie Fraser, who very kindly gave us his autograph, a big bonus for my Son.
I would reccomend this book highly.
