The Original Stereophone

For some, music is a nice distraction. A thing to tap your toes to. For us, music isn’t a thing; it’s a place we go. We are the true believers.

Koss has been bringing people closer to the music they love for more than 50 years. The first Stereophone (SP/3) in the world was created by John C. Koss and Martin Lange in 1958 and since then, Koss’ innovative products have gone from strength to strength with a range now including Full Size Stereophones, On-Ear Stereophones, In-Ear Stereophones, Ear-Clip Stereophones, Wireless Stereophones and Communication Headsets. Now, more than 50 years later….Koss’ creation has become a $2 billion industry, worldwide.

Three principles serve as the foundation for the company’s success: The sound of Koss; focus on fit and breakthrough customer service. What do these principles mean?

The sound of Koss: Musician, John C. Koss created “the sound of Koss” in 1958 and we have stayed true to it to this every day. The sound of Koss brings music back to life. Koss engineers are rigorous in their pursuit of the absolute best sound but it is the human listening experience that sets Koss apart.

Focus on fit: We are obsessed with creating the absolute perfect fit – without it; we can’t get the perfect sound. We strive to create products that offer custom settings for every music lover. Our products couple to the ear – it’s just you and your music.

Breakthrough customer service: Koss was the first to offer Limited Lifetime Warranty in 1989. Our domestic customer support staff is ready to help any listener with any issue. The Koss US factory and warehouse is based in Milwaukee Wisconsin – logistically, Koss has created an onsite inventory system that makes “out-of-stocks” virtually impossible. With that in mind, what specifically do the Pro4AAT Full Size Headphones have to offer?

The Koss Full Size Pro4AAT Stereophones

Koss Pro4AATs are a new twist on legendary headphones. Getting their inspiration from the Koss Pro4AA, the Pro4AAT feature dynamic elements for an exceptionally wide frequency response. This fresh take on the long-time industry standard features a 2 mm titanium coating on its diaphragms for increased rigidity, minimised mechanical distortion, and exceedingly accurate sound reproduction.

Koss Pro4AATs feature Pneumalite ear cushions with a favourably tight seal which allow you to enjoy improved noise isolation and maximum bass as well as full comfort without inducing aching or sore ears after they have been worn for a while. This is further aided by the adjustable slide bars which ensure a snug fit for more great sound and noise reduction.

The heavy duty, single entry, 8 foot coiled cord will allow you extensive freedom of movement to ensure that you can position the headphones for optimum listening, making them ideal for workouts, gaming and more. The lightweight design provides for ultra-portability, so you can comfortably carry them around your neck or fit them into your bag for ultimate protection wherever you go and the Pro4AAT standard 3. mm plug comes equipped with a larger, 6.3 mm adapter so you may easily switch back and forth between your listening devices.

This is all backed up by the Koss Stereophones Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Koss truly does get you inside the music you love!!!

As a fan of both listening to and playing music, I thought it was about time I treated myself to a set of good quality, noise canceling ear phones, and after a pretty comprehensive search i settled on these, and am very glad I did! good volume, clear, sharp, bright tones, effective isolation, sturdy build, comfortable padding and great base (especially when used with an equalizer). However these headphones are very big and rather heavy, and whilst they are comfortable, i wouldn't recommend them for use whilst walking or cycling. all in all these headphones are far superior to any others i have used, i would recommend these headphones to anyone that wants superior sound quality and build quality, and dont mind the weight, and the lifetime warranty is just the icing on the cake! hope you find this review helpful1

These headphones come with a standard 2.5mm size jack output, and also a 3.5mm adaptor, and a storage bag, which is great.

The sound quality is superb, and I have heard that it gets better with time as the materials in Koss headphones aren't broken in, and so adapt according to your music tastes.

The only issue I have with them is that the sound isolation, although fantastic in that you can hear very little else while wearing them, doesn't work both ways. On a high volume, it is very easy for everyone nearby to hear your music. For home and studio use this isn't a problem, but I use them a lot on the train and so have to keep the volume down more than I would like. This is a small gripe, however, and with a lifetime warrenty and such a reasonable price, these headphones are a superb choice for anyone.

These look and sound brilliant!! Totally impressed by these and I would put these up against any of the other big popular brands anyday. They could almost double as ear muffs as they lock out sound from outside so well! When you open the packagng you really do think, wow these do look as good as people say. When you plug them in and go, you will also be very impressed. Definitely a best buy for me.

Closed cup is great with the super-low bass response. Classic orchestral sounds give concert-hall feeling with a better than surround sound effect.

These are amazing headphones. The tones they produce are extreamly warm, mostly due to the titanium coating. They are very comfortable but-they do come withe some flaws thought:

Heavy:
I'm a skinny guy and find them OK, but women will not like this excess weight.

Ears sweat:
Great insulation, but will make you sweat after an hour of listening

High Impedance:
250'!! You will need and amplifier to get the best out of them, and none of the cheap 30-40£ ones. Have a look at Graham Slee.

If you are prepared to live with these drawbacks, you will love your music more than you do already.
The sound quality compares to Sennheisers that cost 200£ plus, and still come with the same drawbacks. e.g. need a 175£ amplifier!

Hope this helps!

..... u need to warm it up at least 150hours (better 200h), until they reach their best sound. It is my 4th Koss headphones, after PortaPRO, UR40 and ProAAT3. But I will use them only at home, to walk outside, in City, I use ProAAt3. They are big as well, but I do not look SO freak, as with these ;-)

For a very reasonable sum, these headphones provide stunning audio quality, and solid construction, backed up by a lifetime replacement warranty. Prior to these, the best headphones I have ever heard were the Etymotic HF2s. In comparison, these are just as detailed, but significantly warmer sounding, especially with really rich, resonant bass for classical music. (Currently listening to Bottesini Concertino in C for Double Bass... the lows are just breathtaking).

On the down-sides, these are big and a little heavy, although personally, I find quite comfortable. But they're not something you could easily through in your bag for work each day. More of a treasure for indulging in at home. And they do need good amplification: on an iPod / IPad, the sound is a little quiet. Plugged into my iTube valve amp, they absolutely sing. (Also, for some reason I don't understand, on my Sony headphones, I could hear a lot of hiss from the iTube, which is completely absent on the Koss phones). I've ordered a Fiio E10 to use with my laptop when I'm away on business trips, and don't have access to a 'proper' amplifier.

*update* the E10 arrived today.. for comparison, I plugged the Koss phones directly into the computer (MacPro) for the first time, as had previously been listening through headphone socket on amplifier. On the computer alone, could barely hear anything at all through the phones. SO quiet. These phones definitely need amplification for use with computer. Oddly, whilst quiet on iPod / iPad, still useable.*

I'm loving the sound of these, and think in terms of value for money, they are incredible, especially when compared to most offerings on the high street. P.S. Sound isolation is extreme - you don't hear anything else around you when listening to these!

These are really great headphones at a good price which doesn't break the bank. Sound quality is really superb. Catch every little click and nuance to give an accurate response when used for editing, yet also very pleasurable in that the bass and treble outputs are superb. Comfortable for long periods of wear. Firm cover. Friends & family are also very impressed with them. I'm really glad I bought these! Highly recommend.
