I have been playing the guitar for 51 years and have, until now, never used a metronome. Recently I decided to 'go back to school' and enlisted on the superb on-line Academy of Bluegrass where a metronome is used extensively. As a result I made the purchase of the Korg MA-1. It's neat and is perfect for my needs. For guitar there is plenty of volume. I like the different sound for the first beat of the bar. The tiny on/off switch is a bit awkward, however I find the tip of my plectrum solves this. For this price you can't go wrong.

Nice Metronome does everything I will ever need, and more. Only 4* because it bleeps and not clicks which is a personal thing, do spend a bit of time with the instructions so you can get the best out of it.

Nice and compact BUT the on/off switch is too small,I have to use a pencil tip to press the ON button, also it cuts out every now and then when you lay it on its back, its OK for the money I guess but I would have rather spent more for a better model

Beat: 0–9 beats
Rhythm options: Quarter note, eighth note, triplet, sixteenth note
Three ways to enter tempo: Pendulum Step, Full Step, Tap Tempo.
This unit can detect tempo values in the range of 30 to 252 BPM.
This unit can be used as reference for pitch tuning.
Reference pitch: Twelve-tone equal temperament (C4 - B4).
Calibration range: 410Hz–480Hz (1Hz steps).
It will auto power off if unused for 20 minutes.
The settings in each mode will be retained upon power off (except when batteries are removed).
Power supply: Two AAA batteries (included).
This unit has a headphone socket (3.5mm).
This unit has a rotary volume control.
This unit has a rear support so that it can be stood up at an angle.
Dimensions (W x D x H): 102 x 59 x 17 mm.

The rear part of the casing is made of a cheap red plastic. The battery compartment cover of my unit, didn't fit properly (see my pictures). The rear stand angles the unit up at about 45 degrees, but beware the flip out stand is thin and the hinge points are weak!

This is a nice looking and easy to use unit, but it's a shame that the design and material for the rear part of the unit have been poorly done. The dimensions are such that the unit will fit snugly inside a camera case made for a Nikon S610 S560 S60 S700 S600 S550 S52. Such cases can be bought cheaply on ebay (direct from China) for a few pounds.

This does the job but has one fault - the on/off switch is so deep-seated, you need a stylus to operate it. Just pressing the button is no sufficient, so beware - you think it does not work at first

For the price it is very good and quite accurite, easy to use but lacking a little volume against extra instraments. Great to use if on your own.

I've just received it and I'm delighted. Straight out of the box and no problems.
For a LOT less than a decent cheap traditional clockwork metronome, this multi-function device (see the specs) is a lot more useful and represents a lot more value.
As an aside - the volume is more than adequate for home practice but remember, Korg title this as a 'Solo Metronome'. Don't expect it to fill a classroom or hall (or to compete with a cranked-up electric guitar!) However it does have a jack socket so that it can be used with headphones or even an external speaker, if required.
Recommended.

P.S. The Korg packaging is actually quite elegant and it occurs to me that this would make a terrific gift.

Cant fault it. My children need it for piano practice and it does whatever they need perfectly well and is easy to adjust the tempo etc.
