Best Phrasebooks 7 Oct 2008
Format:Paperback
It is easy to see why Lonely Planet makes the best phrasebooks. The aesthetics are superb and a useful pronunciation guide is also offered.

I've just used this phrasebook for two weeks with my wife in Korea. In general this is a good guide; well structured, accurate (or seemingly so) and with good explanations. There are very helpful saying for travelling around (e.g. buying train or bus tickets), which is helpful, and plenty of common etiquette phrases.

The book could be stronger on food. There are too-few food terms and the food is somewhat spread between the dedicated food section and the bilingual dictionary at the back. As someone who doesn't eat meat I found I sometimes struggled with the book and having a few more food descriptions (effectively a better menu-decoder) would have helped.

Get by in Korean. 12 Jan 2011

This phrasebook starts with how Korean sentences are constructed and teaches you about the language itself, as well as how to speak it. It offers phrases and information on most subjects a tourist would encounter in Korea (e.g. hotels, travelling and shopping, etc.). It also includes thing like an alphabet table, menu reader and dictionary to help you out. Easy yo use and highly recommended.
