This is as cheap as chips and highly effective, easy to install, and so far, 100% reliable.

Worth noting is that mine came with 5 external ports, not the 4 shown. The 5 are reduced to 4 if you use either of the two internal ports - one is a USB socket, one is a pin-header.

I had a minor problem with an error 43 being reported in the 'Device Manager' drivers tab, and at the same time none of the ports on the card were working. It was easy to fix: go to the Device Manager page, right-click on the card, and take the 'Uninstall' option. Then 'Scan for hardware changes' from the top 'Action' menu. This sorted me out nicely.

For the money, it seems to be a bit of a no-brainer if you're getting short on USB-2 ports.

I needed a USB 2.0 for my Windows XP PC as it was only supplied with USB 1.1 and I needed something simple to install as I am no hardware expert. This board was dead simple, literally, plug it in (with PC off, of course) and go. As a bonus it comes with a driver for use with Windows 98, which I also run.

Bought one of these because I needed to replace a broken optical drive. New optical drives have SATA interfaces, but my old PC has PATA interface. So I also purchased a SATA to PATA interface via USB.

Fitting the card was a bit awkward as the actual card is very short vertically, and a bit shorter than standard PCI socket length wise (see my picture). I needed to remove most of the other cards from the main board so I could see what was happening and get my fingers low enough to push the card in.

The card looks cheaply made, with the contacts looking like they have been used (see my pictures). However once fitted card seems to be performing well.

UPDATE 10/09/2014
I have recently updated the operating system of the computer from XP 32bit to Windows 7 64bit and initially the card wasn't recognized. I had to switch the computer off and then remove the power cord at the rear of the computer for a few minutes (as even when computer is switched off, power is still applied minimally to the motherboard). Upon rebooting the card was recognized and working like a champ!

Had an old computer with USB 1.0 only.
This is a great little card. It fitted very quickly and easily., and worked straight away.
The internal USB port was very useful for fitting a network cable adapter in a tidy fashion, so the old machine can use Broadband now.
The card was a little dearer than some, but works great, so I am very happy.

I have been using a cheap self powered usb hub, but my hard drive or any other device that was plugged into it would randomly switch off or freeze as the hub decides for itself (wrongly) when the power is needed, so I then looked for a way of increasing my usb slots on the pc itself, as they work more consistently that way.
I bought a pcie x1 usb 3.0 card with 2 extra slots, but only one of the slots seemed to work so I removed it.

So then I tried this Konig PCI card instead. It's usb 2.0, but so are most devices so it is of no consequence to me that they are not usb 3.0.

It plugged straight into a spare slot on my Asus Z87K motherboard (Windows 7 64bit), and worked immediately, Windows 7 finding the correct drivers by itself. I only fitted it this morning, but it seems to work consistently.

Fingers crossed, I finally have extra, working, usb slots.

Good value for 4 extra slots, this card is recommended.

Card works fine. Excellent price too, at £4.80p!

There was a problem with installation only because the card slipped out of its internal PCI port while pushing back the desktop, (so there were a lot of yellow marks in Device Manager), but once that was realised it was easily remedied.

Needed it for an old XP desktop which only had 1.0 ports.

It comes with one of those little CD's with drivers. But some computers won't need it as it's a plug n play device and should be recognised by the OS.

Can't say I've noticed a great deal of speed difference but I have noticed that a new DVD drive works whereas before it didn't because Computer didn't meet the minimum system requirements one of which was a 2.0 interface.

The card worked perfectly as soon as installed. Twelve more words required to say what has already been said before.

It works, but software installation under Windows 7 (in a Dell) wasn't at all straightforward. Also, once it was installed all other USB ports on my PC were converted to USB1 spec., which was a pain until I'd spent the time fixing that (by reinstalling various drivers). I'm still not sure that problem is completely fixed.

I'd say it's not an easy plug and play solution.
