this is the zenith of music stands. Don't even think of buying anything else as they are all very poor compared to this. Either too heavy or too bulky or too easily bent or broken . But especially too plasticky in the adjusting screw department . This is none of these things and there is no reason why it shoul not last a century if looked after.

Well made, stable, lightweight, looks as though it will last well. Only had it a month, but use it every day to practice banjo. I have a larger, much heavier stand as well, but the K & M is so much easier to move around. Easy to erect. Folds down easily (it's worth reading the brief instructions to ensure you open / close the table in the correct sequence, but not complicated) into a small, light, easily transportable package (though I mostly leave it assembled). Would have been useful if it incorporated clips to hold music books open though some sort of separate spring clips work well enough. Small magnets might work, but I haven't tried that. Looks good too. Recommended.

This is the second K&M stand I have ever bought. The first I have had for 30 years and is still going strong. This is a spare. Enough said!

very nice stand, solid, and at 5'8", i can easily adjust while in a standing position. it arrived well packed and 1 day ahead of schedule, so that was nice. unfolding it was a bit tricky -- the joints are very tight and need firm, steady force to unfold the legs and head. also i was not sure how to unfold the top of the stand properly, so it was slow going as i did not want to warp the parts while tried to figure it out. i suppose with more use the joints will loosen up a bit. one issue i have is with the mechanism to lock the stand at a certain height -- instead of a pressure tab, it uses a turn-screw, so as you tighten it, the end of the screw digs into the pole to hold it in positon. i am not looking forward to seeing all the resulting dents. it is heavy gauge steel tubing, so it may be able to handle it, but i will have to think on it a bit and see how it fares. the polished nickel finish will suffer, i am afraid. will keep you posted...

This stand is great! Have had other makes in the past which tend to develop faults over time, with threads wearing being one of them. This German type are very robust and the screw method used is very positive, and will last forever if used sensibly. No need to over-tighten, and the music holder frame has a special friction plate enabling the angle to be set to suit the user. One little point is that because the stand is all steel it makes it a little heavier than cheaper makes, but the quality makes up for this, so buy with confidence you will not be disappointed in my opinion!

I have had several other makes of music stands and this one appears to address problems that I have had. My previous one was plastic at the top swivel to the stand and this broke when it slipped from a car seat while this new one is all metal. The one before that was all metal but the grip that held the angle of the music holder could not be tightened sufficiently to prevent tipping of its own accord if the music had any weight. This one has a serrated grip and is far more stable in this respect. There are extending arms so that wider music can be supported (3 A4 sheets wide is no problem). Although this new stand folds into a small size, the legs spread really well and so the whole thing is stable even if the stem is extended enough to play in a standing position. The stand is guaranteed for 5 years which is reassuring.

Overall this is a good music stand, folds up small and is lightweight to carry, which is useful as musicians often have lots of other stuff to carry! My only problem with it is that it wouldn't quite open fully at first, so the "shelf" where you put the music is not completely flat/horizontal. With use this has improved, and with a bit of brute force I have managed to get the shelf flatter, and it is perfectly usable but it is not quite perfect, hence 4 stars instead of 5.

This feels a good quality stand, stable and a,good size and height for various builds.
It looks good- shiny and polished, and is light to carry around.
Can fold up small which is great, and although stiff to unfold the top of the stand, when you are more confident you are doing it correctly is easier!
Build quality seems good and 5 year warranty!
Only thing would add is something to hold your book open...
