I was using a splitter to use on two seperate components but noticed the signal strength had dropped from 8 to 7. After plugging this in, the signal then went up to ten.
Signal Quality still requires using decent cables in the first place but this does help. Recommended

If you have a Sky satellite signal at your set-top box (STB) which is marginal, this little device might be what you need.

Bear in mind:

a. This amplifier has no power supply so it will only work with cables that carry a current from the STB (mainly ones that bring the signal from a satellite LNB to the set-top box). It will not amplify FreeView or normal aerial feeds. It would probably work with FreeSat but I haven't tested it.

b. You will need one of these for *each* of the tuner inputs of your STB. If you have Sky+ or SkyHD you will need two. If you have a non-recording Sky box one will suffice.

c. You will also need to buy a short length of cable terminated at each end by an F-connector for each amplifier. This one would be fine: 1.5m Satellite or Cable TV Black Extension Cable by electrosmart. Alternatively, I think this is the same amplifier supplied with the necessary cable: Easy Fit Satellite Signal Amplifier Booster & Patch Lead by electrosmart

Method (for Sky):

1. Unscrew the F-connector from the back of your Sky STB. Normally marked on the back of the STB as 'Dish Input'.
2. Take the F-connector that you just unscrewed and screw it into the 'In' end of the amplifier.
3. Screw the new F-connector cable (see item c. above) into the other end of the amplifier.
4. Screw the free end of the new F-connector cable into the 'Dish Input' socket on the back of the STB where you removed the original at 1. above.

Superb little product increased my signal and improved my picture just what I needed. Fitted in seconds and so easy too without the need for power to it amazing how it works. Had a good signal before but now superb and no interferance at all. Would recomend this product to anyone even if you don't have a problem with reception it will make your signal better and more powerful ensuring the best picture at all times.

Something that only cost a few pounds can't really make a difference, right? This is the exception. My Sky Signal Strength was about 1/3 on signal strength and 2/3 on signal quality. After using the amplifier, I now have 3/4 signal on both. No external power is needed for the amplifier as it takes what in needs from the LNB aerial lead. You do need to purchase a Male to Male Satellite Coaxial Cable (about the same cost as the amplifier on Amazon).
Highly recommended - even if it doesn't work for you, you will have only wasted a few pounds but for me, an excellent buy.

Well, I bought 2 of these, because as as we live in Spain, we are on the edge of the sat footprint, and the signal is not always perfect, but once connected to our freesat box input, we can now recieve all the channels that we are supposed to. Time will tell though, but for now they are doing the job they were intended to. Just make sure you connect them the right way round. Would I recommend them, Oh yes !!!

Our TV picture tended to break up due to the 45 meter cable between the dish and the receiver. This nifty little device cured that problem. It does not need a power supply because it utilizes the phantom power supply to the LNB on the dish. The signal strength moved from 48% to 80%.
Just make sure that you connect it the correct way around, ie. input and output.

My Sky HD box is located quite a distance from the dish and I decided to give 2 or these a try to see if it improved the signal strength. I have uploaded a photo to this items description showing the before and after as displayed on the Sky boxes signal strength screen. I think the photo is self explanatory, clearly showing a noticeable signal strength from both LNB's.

For the relatively low price of these inline amplifiers it is worth trying them if you have a low strength or a long cable run. The best bit is they are self powered and do not require any external power sources.

UPDATE: I have now been using these amplifiers for over 6 months and they are still working fine. The signal strength with the amps in line is definitely better than without.

this item realy dos work those people who say it dosnt have not connected it properly
you must make sure that the thin wire in the outer layer thats just below the plastic outer sleve cover of the coax cable is traped by the screw fiting that connects to it else it wont work
