I wanted a small, portable satellite dish to use on a narrowboat. The Konig kit contains the dish and all the hardware to allow you to mount it in several different ways. I started with the rubber sucker base but soon found that it is not easy to adjust the vertical angle of the dish. Then, when you take the dish in, you lose the angle and have to start from scratch next time. I ended up clamping it to a piece of aluminium tube and fitting this over a vertical rod fixed to the boat. This means that the vertical angle is retained and all I have to do is rotate the tube to point the dish at the satellite, using a satfinder.

But the real disappointment comes when you want to take the dish down and stow it away. I assumed that it would fit into the plastic suitcase it came in. However, unless you are prepared to dismantle it completely - and then reassemble it all next time - it won't fit in. So, I had to go and buy a cheap holdall to keep the dish and all the bits and pieces while they are stowed away.

Once it is set up, the dish works well and gives me more stations that the permanently mounded dish I have at home. It is a shame that a bit more thought could have been given to making it more caravanner/boater friendly.
