My cats hate being combed. It used to be a case of - when the brush came out the oven gloves went on, because any attempt to groom them meant I would suffer terrible injuries caused by what I believe the police refer to as 'defence wounds'.
Luckily for my forearms though, I discovered 'Zoom Groom' and oddly both my cats love it. They go wild for it and it seems to send them into states of ecstasy when I comb them with it. The minute I get it out they come running and queue up to take turns being brushed. When they're being brushed they go prone on the floor like pancakes; they lie flat on their bellies with their legs akimbo purring as I brush them head to toe. They drool, they shut their eyes, and pad at the floor and air in sheer delight. Then they role over asking me to brush their tummies.
The amount of fur this thing removes is quite phenomenal. One session with the rubbery points easily removes two golf ball sized balls of fur from each cat. The best thing about replacing the metal teeth of a comb with the rubbery spikes is that they acts not like a comb, tugging painfully at my cats' fur, but a bit more like fingertips which massage while collecting lose hair from the dense undercoat.
Both the cats and I love this comb/brush/massager - the cats enjoy the sensation of being combed with it, and I love the fact that it keeps their coats silky smooth and that it sends them into convultions of ecstasy.
