This is a priceless record of not only Group Captain Randle's exploits escaping from enemy territory but also the bravery inured in the resistance movements. Difficult to put down. Bravo, Uncle Bill !

5.0 out of 5 stars Blue Skies and Dark Nights, 13 Mar 2004
This review is from: Kondor (Hardcover)
This book provides excellent reading, and describes Group Captain Bill Randle's experiences in the RAF during the Second World War. I have had the honour and pleasure of meeting both Group Captain Randle and his Rear Gunner, during a Reunion on the old Airfield which they flew from whilst with 150 Squadron during the War. This airfield was also used by 51 Squadron from 1942-1945.

Reading this book, I can genuinely appreciate the extreme daring and bravery these volunteers had to have in order to have done the extraordinary things they did do during the War. I also have a greater understanding of the courage and determination of the Resistence, many of whom paid with their lives. Beautifully written, I would recommend this as reading for anyone genuinely interested in World War 2 Bomber Command history.

The follow on from his biography 'Blue Skies And Dark Nights' This is about the determined effort of a German infiltrator determined to smash the escape line that so happens to interweave with Bill's own escape route from the first book. A gripping read blended with truth and a touch of fiction that keeps you wondering right to the end. If you like these then you need his other 4 chronicles in the Ebdon series about a wwl pilot. Broken Wings, Upwards and Onwards,Promise and Fulfil and Whereever the Fate May Fall.
