I always wanted to be a jockey for a day and I would imagine this is as close as it gets. In previous reviews, reviewers have mentioned the basis of the game being the story mode which is well supported by two play and steeplechase mode. In story mode, you have the goal of becoming champion jockey. However it is a journey which is well orchestrated with story building subtleties like your stable trainer telling you have one more win to get 50 victories or congratulating you on a Grade 1 victory. As you improve more trainer's become available and of course better horses.The impressive part of the gameplay is how you have to position yourself according to the type of horse you are riding. If you miss the break (slow at the start) on a front runner you are doomed and be too close to the front on the back runner and the same occurs. Timing your run is critical and the thrill of victory matches anything I have played before. The key to this game is to persevere as in the beginning you are sick and tired of picking off your goggles as you cross the line with the field already in the unsaddling enclosure. You start to improve and then it is oh why not one more. The three difficulties ensure long play life. There are some items which would have been great in the game such as a betting sheet and more camera angles during the race but I can tell you it runs smoothly and you can never quite get enough. Great purchase for all but especially those overweight jockeys (> 58 kgs which includes 95% of us).

What can I say, this game has everything for both the racing enthusiast and the novice alike.If at first you don't succeed, try and try again !! I'm a racing nut, and would like to think I know a little about positioning, when to go for home, when to make my move, when to use the whip, which horse to sit behind, however I didn't win a race until my 30th try. Needless to say the first win was greeted with much delight....then the game starts to take a different shape. The better you ride, the better horses you get to ride and so on. On 'easy' level, I won my first Group 1 race after 250 other races gaining my reputation. I have still to attain the #1 position as the leading jockey, however normal and Hard levels await me as soon as that happens. Addiction level is 11/10 - you just can't put that dual shock down for 1 moment. The sound of the horses galloping is mesmerising, just one more race before bed, oh go on then perhaps one more. The fiance is now a G1 Jockey widow !! Need I say anymore ??

I bought this game after I read a reveiw on here. It looked good and as I am into horses, I thought it would be a safe bet.I wasn't wrong, either. The game is addictive and moreish. I want to play it, not just when I have nothing better to do. The technical stuff is good. The graphics are good, and the detail of every racecourse (there are 6 or 7, maybe more) is brilliant. It really feels as if you are there. Horse graphics are good, and each horse looks slightly different. This game isn't one you can win. You keep going and going, so it is worth the price you pay. The game is this : you are an inexperienced rookie jockey. In your first year you aim to get rides and be the Rookie of the Year. After the first year, your aim is top jockey. This means most wins and most money won. I really love this game, and would recommend it highly. The choice is amazing. 1000's of horses, lots of jockeys, lots of trainers, lots of races and lots of race lengths. Buy it and you won't be sorry.
