Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Set in the 23rd Century Fatal Inertia mixes street racing, demolition derbies and rallying with a futuristic setting where machines no longer need wheels and the laws of physics govern all. The sport is called Inertia and it's one that offers a heady mix of speed, combat and real world environments that can be used to make your victory and break your opponents.

Fatal Inertia is the dynamic opening salvo from Koei's brand new Canada studio. With a distinctly Western flair, this game represents the first step into an all-new genre for Koei. Fatal Inertia presents the stunning contrast of vibrant, futuristic vehicles battling and racing in a variety of beautiful, natural environments. There are a wide range of physics-based weapons, and you'll discover new ways to use them every time you play. Harnessing the power of the PlayStation 3, this game offers a physics engine that is core to the gameplay, and that offers complete interaction between vehicles, weapons, and environments. Combining speed, technique, and customizability, Fatal Inertia will bring players combat racing unlike anything they've ever experienced. This is truly the next generation.

Fun:
Anti grav racing is no longer en vogue, not only that it, hasn't been eb vogue for nearly a decade. So there is a definite lack of anti grav racing games but just because there is a lack doesn't mean the world is crying out for one. That said a good one would go down nicely, sadly this is just merely average. It is fun for a short while then the difficulty curve goes of the scale. As the game progresses the races get faster, and sadly fast is everything. More quantum redshift than wipeout.

Mind that rock! 4 Sep 2008
Fun:
Being a Wip3out fan I was keen to try this. Anti grav racing is great fun if the handling and course design is well thought out.

Load this game up and you will flop down in amazement at the lush and colourful graphics. Some of the best i've seen on the 360. Sound, for all it is, is also very good.

Not many craft to choose from initially, the rest you have to unlock. Handling varies from a ferrari to an ocean liner. However there are plenty courses and unusually you can access most from the off. The courses are environmental and look great with natural obstacles such as rocks, trees and structures. These are set up in championships of increasing difficulty.

There are weapons but they are not as good as in Wip3out. More of a distraction really.

Initially the racing is fun and enjoyable. As you progress the game gets harder. What ruins the game though is the level design. Good idea, but when you start banging into every tree, rock and cavern wall, the game starts to get frustrating. These obstacles simply get in the way. They are difficult to avoid and instead of flowing gameplay the game turns into computer dodgems. Therefore the sense of speed goes out the window.

To add insult to injury, the LIVE service is dead so don't expect to have a good time on-line as you're on your own. Unless you meet me of course!

This is a good racer that could have been great if it wasn't mucked up with design flaws. However, on the easier difficulty levels it is still enjoyable.

I'll probably try the downloadable PS3 version.

Bit disappointing. 15 Mar 2009
Fun:
I was looking forward to getting this game when I ordered it, but when it got here I was rather dissatisfied. The graphics look quite good to be fair, but the courses lack imagination and after you've moved a fair way through the game it seems almost impossible to win. Wouldn't reccomend.
