A terrible and colossal monster, resembling a serpent with eight heads casts its shadow across the land and defeats most of the brave warriors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic game 11 April 2012
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Warriors Orochi 3 is a must for any fan of the warriors series from Koei, be that Samurai or Dynasty warriors. However saying that does not mean it is inaccessible for newcomers to the franchise. If mowing down literal thousands of enemies with an astonishing array of characters (100+) sounds appealing this will satisfy your needs! All characters are upgradable in a RPG-esque way utilising experience points gained in battle, their weapons are also upgradable using gems and crystals obtained from battle as currency. The gameplay is simple to get to grips with; obliterate hordes of enemies while ensuring your own commander isn't slain and keeping an eye on objectives that may crop up during a battle. There are a great deal of battlegrounds to choose from, which are unlocked through completing stages, meeting certain objectives and talking to characters in the camp outside of battle. The main storyline is to defeat a giant hydra with powerful allies that you recruit through the various stages. The minor detail that may put some off is the lack of English voice acting, all dialogue is Japanese but it is subtitled (translated, obviously) and, in my opinion, does not detract from enjoyment at all. The co op in the game is splitscreen local or you can play online too, I haven't made use of the online facility but I have spent most of my time playing couch co-op with my fiancee and both of us have enjoyed every minute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Game! 17 April 2012
By n8-93
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is absolutely brilliant! If you are a fan of the Dynasty Warriors or Samurai Warriors series, then you simply must buy this game - nearly 130 playable characters (including guest appearances from Ninja Gaiden/DOA characters Ryu and Ayane), with plenty of stages, weapons and costumes to unlock - this game will keep you busy for months.

For those of you that don't know, you select a team of 3 characters and take them onto the battlefield to defeat thousands of enemies in each stage, along with other objectives. The story follows an interesting concept of travelling back in time to save your fallen allies, so that you can slay the Hydra Dragon. The story can last as long as you want it to - you can try to take on the Hydra straight away, or fight the other battles (around 30) to rescue your fallen/missing allies - which is probably the way you will get the most out of the game, and to get every character could last a good 50 hours or more. Co-op is available both online and offline and is great fun (especially offline). The Japanese only voice work may not be to everyone's taste, but personally it didn't effect my enjoyment of the game.

As I said previously if you have enjoyed Dynasty/Samurai warriors games then this game will be great for you, as it incorporates a the best bits (and all the characters) from both series. If you are new to the Warriors franchise and love action/adventure/fighting games, then I would still highly recommend this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for fans of the series 18 Jun. 2012
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've always been a fan of the Warriors series, and Warriors Orochi has always provided a rare chance to step outside the storyline set by history and demonstrate something original and unexpected. Warriors Orochi 3 is, arguably, the best of the bunch; not only the best of the Orochi series, but possible the best warriors game also. Featuring a massive cast of characters, thousands of lines of 'camp interactions' that you will spend hours and hours trying to experience in their entirety, as well as the usual army-smashing levels of action you'd expect, Orochi 3 is just plain fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars A serious contender to Dynasty warriors 8! 30 July 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
This game is similar to Dynasty warriors 8 but still unique in story line, the end battle which is truly epic (hydras with four heads & spirit demons) your main goal is to go back in time and change the future, you go into battle with your 3 chosen warriors, initially you ride Horses and later on you unlock elephants & bears. Graphics are good but not in great I suppose they had to make sacrifices in order to include more content, Character designs are varied, interesting and crazy at times (but great still fun).

If your a fan of the Dead or Alive series (by Tecmo) Ayane & Hayabusa are unlockable characters along with over 120 plus other playable warriors, the game is an exciting hybrid/merger of (Samurai Warriors, Orochi Warriors & Dynasty Warriors series) Just a heads up, later this year (Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate) will be released so just in case you decide to play the current standard edition please note that your game save data will carry over and will merge with the Ultimate new version, extra characters will be Kasumi from (Dead or Alive) and Sophitia Alexandra from (Soul Calibur series)plus lots more!.

Ok so coming back to this current review (standard version) the game is not as fluid & as polished compared to DW8 but it's still a great game with great online battles such as Musou Battlefields editor and lots of offline character/team development.

It's still worth the money and time (my overall score 8/10).

5.0 out of 5 stars Warriors orochi 3 rocks! 2 May 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love this game truly! I'm a big dynasty warriors fan and was a bit gutted with the Renbu system they out into DW7 and the fact that everyone can use all weapons with the same movesets my favourite characters lost there individuality but I got this after finishing up WO2 and I have to say its awesome each of the 120 odd characters have there own movesets and weapons and costumes etc its got plenty of stages and it has great replay value what with trying to get all the costumes and proficiencys to max. Only thing that people might not like us it's all in Japanese with English subs, I loved it and always played the games like it but some people might be out off
