What is Google Cloud Print?

Google Cloud Print is a free service that lets you print on the go from your smartphone, tablet, or computer using Google Cloud Print enabled apps such as Google Mail (Gmail), Google Calendar and Google Docs.

To print using Google Cloud Print, you will need:

  • A Kodak Hero all-in-one printer, registered and connected to Google Cloud Print via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (not USB cable). The printer must be powered on or in sleep mode.
  • Any internet connected device that has a Google Cloud Print enabled app.

Printing attachments within your Google Mail is no problem including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDFs. You can even print directly from Google Docs, allowing your prints to be ready as soon as you get home.

What is Kodak Email Print?

Kodak Email Print Service is a free service that assigns a unique email address to your printer, so you can easily email documents to your printer from anywhere. Both the body of the email and any attachments will be printed.

To print using Kodak Email print, you will need:
  • A Kodak Hero all-in-one printer, registered and connected to Google Cloud Print via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (not USB cable). The printer must be powered on or in sleep mode.
  • Any internet connected device with an email program.

When you send an email to your printer, the body of the email and any attachments will print. The following attachments will be printed; Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, PDFs, text files, HTML, plus images such as jpg, jpeg, bmp, png, gif and tiff.

The following email clients and services have been tested with Kodak Email Print:
  • Desktop Apps: Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, Lotus Notes 8.5 and Mac Mail.
  • Web Apps: Gmail, Yahoo! mail and Hotmail.
  • Mobile Apps: Apple iOS mail, Android mail, Blackberry mail and Nokia/Symbian mail.

You may send any number of attachments to be printed; however the maximum file size of any one attachment is 7MB, and the total size of your email with attachments should not exceed 50MB.

When you register for Kodak Email Print, anyone can send emails to your printer. However, you can limit who can print to your printer, by creating a list of authorised senders called a ‘white list’. This ensures your printer is protected from spam.

Easy and fast Wi-Fi setup

Kodak offers one of the easiest and fastest Wi-Fi set-ups in the industry. So you can start printing and scanning from anywhere in your home or office in a matter of minutes. Simply select the Wi-Fi Set-Up Wizard from the menu on the printer's LCD, select your network and type in your network security password.

Scanning

Scanning is easy too, the high resolution optical scanner allows you to scan multiple images at once with the software automatically creating separate image files making it quick and easy to get great scans.

Touchscreen control and convenient connectivity

The Kodak HEero 9.1 All-in-One Printer is designed to be easy to setup and control. The sleek, responsive 4.3 in. colour LCD touchscreen makes it simple to create, copy, scan, and print. With conveniently located memory card slots on the front panel, supporting SD/SDHC, MMC, and Memory stick, you can view and print photos on the touchscreen without the need for a PC. If you prefer to hook up your printer via a standard USB cable, then use the Kodak all-in-one Home Center software, allowing you to edit with ease to reduce red eye, fix blemishes and skin tones, or even restore colour.

Double-sided printing

Waiting to turn the sheet over is no longer an issue with the Kodak Hero 9.1 All-in-One Printer, thanks to automatic double sided printing. With double sided printing you can save money, reduce your paper consumption and help the environment in the process – all without compromising on print quality.

Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)

With a built-in automatic document feeder (ADF), you can load up documents and walk away. Copy, scan and fax documents up to 216 wide by 356 mm high from the ADF, including two-sided document scanning. With a capacity of 35 sheets it takes the hassle out of home office tasks.

Smart sensor technology

Loading paper into the printer couldn’t be simpler thanks to the rear feed paper tray, holding 100 sheets of document paper or 20 sheets of photo paper for continuous, worry-free printing. There is even an intelligent paper sensor which automatically adjusts printer settings based on paper type, so you get the right print the first time.

Dual paper tray convenience

Switch effortlessly between photo and document printing with two paper trays. Load photo paper in one tray, plain paper in the other, and let the printer toggle between them depending on what you are printing – it couldn’t be easier. The photo paper tray has a capacity of 20 sheets upto 5 × 7 in. and including the popular 4 x 6 in. A4 can be loaded into other tray with a maximum capacity of 100 sheets.

Borderless and printable templates

Easily access printable template designs right from the control panel including graph paper, line paper (narrow or wide ruled), tic-tac-toe, reminder list, shopping list, and sheet music (portrait and landscape).

Kodak printing technology.

High-quality photos and documents with KODACOLOR Technology

KODACOLOR Technology is a revolutionary technology that combines a high nozzle density printhead and pigmented inks with precision dual drop placement. Together with our instant dry papers and high speed print system you get brilliant, crisp documents and vivid photos that last a lifetime. And all this for up to 50% less than other inkjet systems*.

At its most basic, a print is literally ink on paper. Our thermal inkjet printhead has 3,840 nozzles. All those nozzles deliver fast, precise, high-density printing. Plus, our printhead is a permanent part of the printer. Not part of the ink cartridge, like most other inkjets. So not only do you have a precisely tuned system—and quality prints—you only have to pay for it once.

What makes it all work? Over a hundred years of Kodak Image Science. This includes advanced color management for a wider color gamut, real-life tones, and brilliant colors. It includes algorithms in the printer and in the all-in-one printer software. All of this combines to give you crisp, clear documents and Kodak lab-quality prints at home.

The only printer ink triple 5 star rated for print quality

Most consumer inkjet printers use dyes, but Kodak printers use patented pigment based inks that deliver incredible print quality, ‘best-in-class’ print permanence of 120+ years** and prints that dry instantly.

In the latest Which Test Lab report on printer ink (July 2011) Kodak was the only printer ink awarded five out of five star ratings in all three categories for print quality; Text print quality, Photo print quality and Water resistance. The same Which report highlighted Kodak as the lowest cost printer ink of any printer manufacturer on test.

The Kodak Hero 9.1 All-in-One Printer works with our expanded line of Kodak pigment-based 10 Series Inks. Featuring patented pigmented ink, ensures Kodak lab-quality photos and documents that last a lifetime ideal for everyday printing. Print crisp, sharp, black and colour documents thanks to instant drying which resist smudges and smears. Kodak offers a range of ink cartridges that suit the way you print.

Fed up with expensive printer ink?

When you buy a printer, price will often be a major factor. But with expensive replacement ink cartridges, the total cost is not always clear – and high running costs can come as a bit of a shock later on. Kodak all-in-one printers are different. You pay a little more for the printer but much less for the ink so now you can afford to print as much as you like.

Don’t just take our word for it, all testing was done independently to ISO standards by QualityLogic, who have provided testing services for the printing industry for over 20 years. QualityLogic are a world-leading expert in printer testing and were integral in developing the international standard (ISO) for measuring print cartridge performance. So say goodbye to overpriced ink and enjoy Kodak’s low-cost, high quality pigment ink cartridges that give you all the bright colours and sharp text you’d expect for just a fraction of the price.

The first 3D photo printing experience among leading consumer inkjet printers

Introducing 3D photo printing from Kodak

The first 3D photo printing experience among leading consumer inkjet printers. All it takes is a few simple steps to create stunning 3D pictures that leap off the paper. Create 3D pictures at home... it's easy.

All you need is your digital camera, a Kodak all-in-one printer, and Kodak Home Center software, (version 6.2 or higher).

  • Select a subject that has little motion — portraits, and landscapes work best.
  • Take one picture. Within 20 seconds, move the camera 3 in. (75mm) to the right without changing the camera angle, and take a second picture.
  • Save the pictures to your computer and use Home Center Software to create and print 3D pictures—simply follow the on-screen instructions.
  • View your prints with the special Kodak 3D glasses.
Print from Social Networks

This software enables consumers to manage and print their photos, including those on social media sites such as Kodak Gallery, Facebook, Picasa, Flickr and Photobucket, all from one location. What’s great about this is that you still have all of the same editing and cropping abilities with these images as you do with your native ones.

Print from video

Another great new feature of the new software is the inclusion of printing pictures from video. You are now able to extract a still image from a video using the software then print directly to your Kodak printer. You can print pictures from AVI, MOV and MP4 videos.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seems good with low running costs 25 Nov 2011
Got fed up with escalating HP print costs so switched to Kodak to try to minimize them.

The most important thing to me was ink costs as it had got to the stage that I couldn't really afford to use the HP printer I had ( a £200 all in one) as I would want - e.g. let the kids print off it, do a few photos etc and what goods a printer if you cant afford to print.

I've had this printer for about a month now so thought I would comment as there's a lack of customer ratings out there.

Positives
+ Low ink costs seem to be bearing up - less than a 1/4 cartridges used so far and replacement costs will be low.
+ Photo quality seems very good - especially on Kodak paper - at least as good as HP and are dry straight away.
+ Print quality seems OK - haven't noticed any drop in quality from HP
+ Scanner seems quite good - haven't noticed any drop in quality from HP and the document feeder works OK.
+ Less noise than HP on start up (but not silent by any means)
+ Software seems decent, much better than HP's
+ Like the large touchscreen as it lets you access the menu's and settings easily.
+ its quite compact for an all in one with an ADF

Negatives
- doesn't seem as solid as the HP - although its not flimsy
- there are no specific printer drivers for Linux from Kodak.

Note - I've seem some comments about delicate seeming print heads when fitting on other reviews. Seems OK to me though, remember to press the red circle target to get the 'click' and you don't have to press anywhere else when fitting.

Haven't tried any fancy features yet, overall I'm pleased with it so far. Time will tell on reliability, but at least I can afford to print without thinking of the cost of print cartridges. I'll update if anything negative crops up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kodak Hero 9.1 29 Nov 2011
Excellent printer easy to set up and use, does what you would expect for a top-end product. Would get 5 stars if it didn't keep dropping the WiFi connection and having to restart it. Works perfectly with Mac OS 10.6.

2.0 out of 5 stars mediocre printer 12 Jan 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this product rather disappointing. I bought it because the supposedly cheap ink hype but since I have had it the black ink cartridge has already run out (less than 4 weeks) and I have a message saying the colour ink is low. Fair enough the children can now use a colour printer for their homework without it causing bankruptcy but the quality of the colour printing is poor. I used a Lexmark for colour printing until it died(!) the cartridges were expensive (£54 for a pair) but the quality of the pictures, especially photographs, was second to none.
The printer itself was very easy to set up, the controls are clear and the icloud novelty also was easy to do. I havent used the fax yet but the scanning is poor. It only takes a few seconds to scan a photograph and what you get is a grainy picture on the computer and a grainy printout. If Kodak could upgrade the software so that the scanner is more thorough that would be a great improvement. Sadly this is a purchase I regret.
