The advantages of a Bridge Camera: A ‘bridge camera’ is a class of camera that fits in the space between Compacts and DSLR’s offering a useful compromise between function and convenience. Bridge cameras deliver greater creative control and have much longer zooms than compact cameras allowing greater versatility in a broader range of photographic situations. While compared to a DSLR, a bridge camera is more compact in size, lighter and delivers much more zoom for the money. Typically a DSLR, with one or more interchangeable lenses to offer the same range of focal length as a bridge camera, will weigh around 4 or 5 times more and be over twice the size of a bridge camera. So for many consumers, especially when travelling, a bridge camera is a great economical, compact option delivering a high level of creative control, a high zoom range than includes wide angle without the need to change lenses, and leaves a little money in your pocket, too.
Vertical shutter release
With around 40% of photos taken in portrait format, the Kodak Z981features a vertical shutter release button and detachable vertical grip for improved comfort and stability so you can switch from horizontal to vertical shots with unbelievable ease.
High performance: Ever been on holiday and wanted more zoom to get in close for detail of distant subjects one day and wide angle to capture pictures in tight quarters or dramatic landscapes the next? The 14 million pixel Kodak Z981 offers the ultimate in versatility with a quality 26X (f/2.8 – f/5.0) SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH Variogon optical zoom lens that allows you to switch seamlessly from 26mm wide angle to an incredible 676 mm. You can even get really close—down to 1 cm--with super macro mode that’s perfect for flower photography. Optical image stabilisation will allow you to capture sharp, steady shots when shooting at long zoom ranges by automatically minimizing camera shake to deliver sharper pictures.
The Z981 has many more features than just a great lens. It’s a very responsive camera with fast power up, fast shot-to-shot response (<1.6 sec), and best-in-class* click-to-capture speed (<0.2 sec) plus a high ISO rating, up to 6400 (ISO3200 and 6400 at up to 3.0 MP in PASM modes), so you can capture challenging action shots without shutter delay and also capture fine details in low light conditions. Advanced settings are available in PASM modes: Program, Aperture and Shutter priority as well as full Manual mode that allow you to take as much creative control of your photographic experience as you’d like. You can even shoot RAW files for maximum dynamic range and image quality. The RAW Develop feature allows you to develop, edit (picture size, quality, exposure compensation, colour mode, sharpness and white balance) and save RAW files as well as Fine, Standard or Basic JPEG with the original RAW file preserved.
Smart Capture technology:
Whilst the Z981 will offer you all the creative control you need, it also features Kodak’s advanced Smart Capture mode that adjusts the camera settings automatically so you get better pictures in just about any conditions. This technology does so much more than a basic auto mode. Intelligent Scene Detection detects and analyses the scene conditions, Intelligent Capture Control sets exposure, focus, flash and ISO – this includes face detection, motion detection and macro detection. Finally Intelligent Image Processing reduces noise and clears up dark shadow areas to deliver vibrant, crisp details and true to life colours. If you don’t have time to adjust settings manually, turn the dial to Smart Capture and the camera will analyse the scene and automatically adjust the camera settings for you – the result, better pictures more often!
One-button upload to online sites such as FACEBOOK and FLICKR, and email. You’re out snapping pictures with friends and want to share them online as soon as you get home. That’s a snap with KODAK’s one-button upload. In review mode just press the Share button and select your sharing destinations--YouTube, FACEBOOK, FLICKR, and KODAK Gallery sites; e-mail, and KODAK PULSE Digital Frame, too. When you connect your camera to your computer with the USB cable provided; your pictures and videos will automatically be transferred to your computer and uploaded to all tagged destinations. It’s that easy. The first time you connect the Z981 Digital Camera to your computer, Kodak’s Share Button app (a small software program) will launch and prompt you to add login information for your online sharing sites. After that one time setup, uploads to your tagged sharing destinations are executed automatically when you connect your camera.
Face Recognition makes finding pictures easy If you’ve ever scrolled through hundreds of pictures on your camera looking for just one picture in particular, Kodak’s face recognition feature is just what you need. It’s powerful and easy to use. Using the on-camera keyboard, enter the name of any face detected during picture taking—up to 5 different people in a single picture. The next time a picture of a tagged person is taken; the camera will automatically recognize their face and assign the right name to it. A maximum of 20 different people can be added to the on-camera face registry, and up to five different poses of each person are used to increase the accuracy of their facial recognition. Once a person is recognized by facial recognition, its super quick and easy to search by name to find all the pictures of that person whenever you want.
HD Video:
The Z981 doubles as a camcorder recording HD 720p video at 30fps in MOV format with stereo sound. You can edit video on screen and even create stills from video footage, great for sharing by email or for making prints up to 4x6”.
