The camera will happily work automatically, however a range of manual controls let you specify exposure, white balance, focusing, ISO speed and shutter speed. The LCD menu system is well designed, clear and very easy to use, even though the display itself is a little on the small side. A 2x optical zoom is provided and works quickly with a snappy auto focus, plus an additional 3x digital zoom is available.
Part of the EasyShare range, the camera comes with a docking station, which not only provides a permanent USB connection with your PC but also charges the camera's batteries that are supplied with the pack. The software ties in with the docking tray, letting you transfer images with the press of a button. Though the camera also appears in the My Computer window as a new drive giving you direct access to the memory card.
The only annoyance with the camera is the tiny 8MB memory card supplied, which simply isn't big enough for this size megapixel of camera. Only letting you store 7 images at top quality or 15 with a higher compression mode. Fortunately, buying additional memory is not going to set you back too much more. Otherwise the only missing feature is video capture that is offered by many competing cameras. However there's no doubt about the excellent image quality, while the provided docking station is an added bonus, especially aimed at those who want a digital camera that is simple to use.--Nick Baxter

A Great Digital Camera,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kodak EasyShare DX3900 With Docking Station [3.1MP 2xOptical] (Electronics)
This really is a great camera! The pictures it takes are superb quality and the features of the camera are good as well. It is also very competitively priced for a 3.1 mega pixel digital camera. The docking station is easy to setup on your computer and is a hassle free way to transfer your pictures from the camera to your PC. There are no problems with the camera itself, but when you buy the camera you only get an 8mb picture card included in the package. This allows to only take around 7/8 high quality pictures. I would suggest buying a 64mb or 128mb card if you are going to purchase this camera. All in all a great buy, you wont be disapointed if you purchase this camera.

This camera offers that little bit more than entry-level models in terms of functionality and image quality. In particular the 3.1 megapixel resolution allows larger prints than the traditional 6"x4" snap without blur or distortion of the image. This is supported by the optical zoom which really holds its own - beware of similarly priced models from other manufacturers that offer digital-only zoom. The camera is also a joy to use; although the quality is high you can leave all the settings on automatic - and the easydock cradle makes transferring to your computer a doddle. Coupled with a copy of PaintShop Pro this makes for a great introduction to digital photography - just don't forget to buy a higher capacity memory card (64 or 128Mb for preference).

Kodak DX3900 - More than a point 'n' shoot.,

This review is from: Kodak EasyShare DX3900 With Docking Station [3.1MP 2xOptical] (Electronics)
This camera is incredible value for money. 3.1 MP for under £300 and so simple to use, either leave it in fully auto mode or if you are feeling adventurous, tweek it a bit to get really great pics. The docking system makes it even more easier to download and save your files. Look no further, this is the bees knees for 'Joe Public'. I would recommend buying the 64MB flash card for more flexibility at only...
