Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Sharing your pictures just got simpler!

Sharing pictures has never been easier than with the great value 12 MP, 3X optical zoom KODAK EASYSHARE C143 Digital Camera.

The C143 has a 2.7” (6.7 cm) bright LCD so you can enjoy reviewing your pictures and video right on the camera. The 3x optical zoom lens zooms in close and blur reduction reduces blur caused by subject movement or fast-action situations and automatically minimizes the effects of camera shake to deliver clearer, sharper pictures. When taking pictures of friends and family, Kodak face detection technology locates up to 5 faces and automatically adjusts the camera settings to ensure you always get the best possible shot; and Kodak’s face recognition feature makes it super quick and easy to tag and search your pictures by name. All these features at such an affordable price is very impressive, but it’s still the ease of sharing pictures that sets this camera apart.

One-button upload to online sites such as FACEBOOK and FLICKR, and email.

Everyone enjoys sharing their latest pictures with friends and family online but its often so complicated the pictures end up just staying on the camera! The new Kodak share button makes sharing your pictures super easy.

You’re out snapping pictures with friends and want to share them online as soon as you get home. In review mode just press the KODAK Share button to select your choice of sharing destinations - your FACEBOOK, YouTube, FLICKR or KODAK Gallery accounts or e-mail addresses you’ve added to your camera. You can select a KODAK PULSE Digital Frame too. When you get home simply connect your camera to your computer with the USB cable provided and your pictures and videos will automatically be transferred to your computer and uploaded to all tagged destinations. It’s that easy.

The first time you connect the C143 Digital Camera to your computer, KODAK’s Share Button app (a small software program) will launch and prompt you to add login information for your online sharing sites and email address. After that one time setup, photos will be uploaded to the sharing destinations you’ve chosen automatically just as soon as you connect your camera to your computer.

Better pictures automatically with KODAK Smart Capture

When taking pictures, wouldn’t you like to save time and concentrate on composing the picture to capture that perfect moment without worrying about adjusting camera settings? Unfortunately, with “normal” auto modes, this sometimes means you will be disappointed with the result. We’ve all taken pictures of scenes that looked great through the human eye but not so good on the camera. A typical example would be a picture of a subject with a bright background. In these backlit situations the background looks good, but the subject—the most important part of the picture - is often too dark. KODAK's Smart Capture feature allows you to become a better photographer in just about any environment by automatically applying three split-second processes to improve your pictures without you having to adjust any settings:

  1. Intelligent scene detection detects and analyzes the characteristics of scene
  2. Intelligent capture control then automatically sets camera settings including exposure, focus and ISO for clear, sharp pictures even in low light and challenging situations
  3. Intelligent image processing enhances the final result in the processing stage by reducing noise and clearing up dark shadows for vibrant, crisp details and true-to-life colors.

So with Smart Capture you’ll get better pictures automatically in just about any lighting condition without the worry of adjusting camera settings. You just press the button and we do the rest!

Face Recognition makes finding pictures easy

If you’ve ever scrolled through hundreds of pictures on your camera looking for just one picture in particular, Kodak’s face recognition feature is just what you need. It’s powerful and easy to use. Using the on-camera keyboard, enter the name of any face detected during picture taking—up to 5 different people in a single picture. The next time a picture of a tagged person is taken; the camera will automatically recognize their face and assign the right name to it. A maximum of 20 different people can be added to the on-camera face registry, and up to five different poses of each person are used to increase the accuracy of their facial recognition. Once a person is recognized by facial recognition, its super quick and easy to search by name to find all the pictures of that person whenever you want.

Perfect Gift! 27 April 2011
By nad407
Colour Name:Red
I bought this gift for my sister's birthday. I think it makes a great gift. The camera in itself looks really nice. I got the red color and it looks great. It's small in size and therefore it's easy to carry around with you. It also has an LCD screen which is quite big for a camera so small. It takes good quality photographs and the video quality isn't bad either. My sister loved the share button. Being a Facebook user herself, she just loves the fact that it's so easy to share the pictures with her friends. All in all I am extremely happy with this product. Only thing that was missing was a camera case. Apart from that I would recommend this product 100%!

Colour Name:Silver
I was given this camera as a present. My old Canon was becoming unreliable so this was a very welcome gift.

Included with the camera are two AA batteries, USB cable, limited manual and wrist strap. No case was included but that seems to be the norm these days. The camera takes an SD or SDHC card (not included) so I bought a 2gb.

On top of the camera is the on/off button, mode selection and then flash control. Next to that is the shutter button/zoom control. On the back there is a toggle switch/ok button for navigating around the menus, etc. Then between that and the screen are 4 vertically mounted buttons that select `Delete', `Menu', `Information' and `Playback'. Bottom right is the `Share' button. The function of this is to upload photos directly to a website. The options are `Kodak Gallery', 'Youtube', `Facebook', Flickr', `Orkut' or you can enter an email address.

First thing to do was open the battery compartment on the bottom to insert the batteries and memory card. Unfortunately it was difficult to see the diagram that shows which way round the batteries go. However it is shown in the manual so not a problem.

Switch the camera on and you are prompted to enter the date and select your language. If you're using a new SD card you'll probably get a message saying that the memory card is unusable. This means navigating to the 'Format' option in 'Setup'. This takes a few seconds to complete then you're ready to go.

Using the `Mode' button there are a variety to choose from i.e. Smart Capture (general use), Video (640 * 480), Program (gives extra options in the menu e.g. exposure compensation, white balance, etc), Scenes (wide selection from portrait and sports to panorama and documents).

With all these modes there is a certain amount of manual control but you are denied aperture and shutter speed. Instead you rely on the camera to decide the settings. This seems fairly standard on the type of camera. It's a shame as there are occasions when they would be useful but I guess most people don't want the hassle.

I could write pages going through the various menu options but they're fairly standard for a point and shoot. The options that stood out (for me at least) was `AF control' and `Focus/Exposure zone'. Perhaps they're available more widely now but this level of control wasn't available on previous camera's I've owned. There are a multitude of options within the various modes and menu settings so it's probably best to take time to experiment a bit with them.

Image quality is perfectly good for a camera of this type. Obviously with such a small lens and sensor, picture quality deteriorates if you expand the image too far on your pc screen. But I'm sure most people will be happy with the results. This is a great little camera with plenty of versatility for the price.

Disappointed 15 April 2011
Colour Name:Silver
I have had a kodak digital camera for the past eight years - CX7530 and have been perfectly happy with it, so much so that I recently bought a kodak digital camera as a gift for a very kind friend, thinking it would be at least as good as mine but most probably better. She is too kind to say that she is disappointed with it but I have now had a chance to look at it myself only to find that it is not nearly as good as my one, apart from the larger picture area. The most significant difference is when I do a video clip I can play it back complete with sound, but, until the video clip is put onto the computer, it is not possible to hear the sound on her camera. I thought technology would have improved in eight years.
