This printer consumes around 3% of the ink cartridges each time it is switched on - this is the result of a cleaning/priming cycle. Switch it off and on each day for a month and more than half of the ink is gone without printing anything. It may be an economical printer if you want to print 500 sheets at a time , but who does? I finally got Kodak to admit this after several fruitless phone conversations and emails. They suggest leaving it on permanently, not very environmentally friendly or economical. If you are only going to print a few sheets a day I would steer clear of this printer.

This printer has given me nothing but trouble since I purchased it. It constantly claims to have a paper jam for no reason and refuses to print. I'm currently a student and spent more than I could afford on this printer on the basis that it would be worth the money in the long run - it's not. I now have to buy a new printer as blank stripes now appear over anything I print. Don't waste your money like I did.

I have found this the worst printer I have ever used. Only bought it,as I switched from PC's to a Mac and needed something compatable.
It's very noisy, unreliable and moody and poorly made. The first day I lifted the lid of the copier, the cheap plastic hinge fell out,and have never been able to get it back in.
Often takes in many sheets of paper, prints none, and often chews up the paper and jams!
When told to print,I often wait for ages but it does'nt print anything. The cartridges are easy to insert, which is good,as they don't seem to last long, and certainly not as long as claimed!!

I had to return three of these, Kodak messed me about for months- they made me carry out test upon test, when it was clear the printer was rubbish, they blaimed everything from the print head (they replaced that twice), to the paper (their own top of the range paper).
It consistenly gave utterly awful results, except on text printing. Photos were terrible, I got a refund in the end & now I have a cannon and I realise just how terrible this printer is.
The ink maybe cheap- but what does that matter- when the photo's come out so bad? Colours are way off, the software doesn't install, when you get it- you constantly get asked to update it- and it keeps failing to install. This is the worst printer I have ever owned and kodak are total morons.

First important point to make - I didn't buy this from Amazon and if I had read the other reviews first I wouldn't have gone within ten feet of this printer.

With my Epson inkjet failing and in need of a new printer immediately I went to a local computer store fully intending to buy a Canon or HP inkjet.

However, attracted by the in-store advertising and explanation by a Kodak representative regarding the savings on ink over a typical year and the "Kodak are printing experts" argument, I paid more than I intended and purchased this Kodak ESP-3.

After a frustrating 3 hours at home with numerous print head cleans, driver updates, etc the thing still would not print black or yellow at all despite saying the new cartridges had ink in them !

Reading reviews and forums it seems I suffered with usual printhead problems and the thing was promptly taken back to the store who agreed that it was a printhead problem and a refund was obtained.

(A "cheap" Canon iP2600 was then ordered from Amazon, delivered in a few days and successfully installed by my wife and printing perfectly in 20 minutes!)

Never touching Kodak again!

I was looking for an economic all-in-one printer both in how much ink it used and also the price of ink when it came to buying more. I noticed that the ink for this printer is relatively cheap compared to other manufacturers, and also read a review on how this printer doesn't guzzle up ink.

Unfortunately since I have bought this printer I have noticed that it does use up ink pretty quickly and I don't print that often! Also I can't seem to use the scanning functionality if the ink has run out, which is very frustrating!

All in all I would say skip this printer and keep looking and maybe you'll find your dream printer, because this one certainly doesn't come close!

I have to disagree with the other reviewers.
I have had nothing but trouble with this printer since i bought it.
It jams up on a regular basis and if paper gets torn it is almost impossible to remove.

It is quiet slow in printing and currently i can't print at all as i'm getting bands across the printouts even though i have cleaned the printheads twice and done all the other maintenance tasks. I have only used the printer a handful of times and it is never moved so can't see why it has all these problems.

I've always used Epson in the past and i cetainly will never buy Kodak again

I bought this in January to print my greetings card. I saw a review of it on TV which promised great results with very economical cartridges. The colours from scan are completely different to those from my computer. The paper jams and when it does print it is very clearly streaked or coverd in splatters of ink. I've tried contacting kodak for all these months and eventually they sent me a new print head (no difference), I bought new cartridges (no different), I've re-installed the software...guess what?! Yes I just want to throw it at a wall and get the satisfaction of seeing the piece of cr*p die. Its cost me so much time and money and I've lost sales from having to go to my parents house and print out my cards. As a small business it's not like I can afford to spend this much on something which has never worked properly. You can use it for printing from a scan, that's it.
