Like most other 3-megapixel cameras, the Kodak features a 3x optical zoom lens plus a 2x digital zoom. Images are stored as JPEG or TIFF files on standard Type I CompactFlash cards, and the camera is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and AC adapter (included). USB output makes image transfers quick and a video-out plug lets you view your images on your television. The 4800 has several unusual features that help to set it apart from the rest of the 3-megapixel pack. For example, Kodak has included dedicated controls on the top of the camera to adjust the aperture and exposure compensation, rather than forcing users to wade through a sea of menus to access these frequently used settings. In addition, the camera offers better-than-usual control of white balance and colour saturation.
The camera ships with a neck strap, lens cap, 16 MB CompactFlash card, lithium-ion rechargeable battery, AC adapter, USB cable, video cable, user's guide and software CD.
If you're as passionate about photography as we are, the KODAK DC4800 is the camera for you. It's loaded with features, including outstanding 3.1 megapixel resolution quality for printing pictures up to 11x14". Manual and automatic settings give you the creative control and flexibility to get the pictures you want. Saturated, neutral, black-and-white and sepia colour balance provide additional creative freedom. A 3x optical zoom (28 - 84 mm) and 2x digital zoom lens lets you get as close to your subject as possible without losing any precious details. All this in a compact design that makes this camera comfortable to use and easy to carry.

A great camera with a lot of potential.,

This review is from: Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital Camera (Electronics)
This camera has the capability of taking excellent photographs.Better picture quality is obtained by taking the time to familiarise oneself with the manual settings. In low light conditions indoors in automatic mode it defaults to very slow shutter speeds, causing blurr. Setting the lens aperture to 2.6 and shutter speed to 1/60 with flash turned on seems to usually overcome these problems when taking pictures inside. Overall a great camera with a lot of scope.

Excellent Pictures Full of Features But,
This review is from: Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital Camera (Electronics)
This camera is everything that it is advertised to be. It has a wide range of configurable functions, film speeds, colour balance, exposure compensation and a range of image sizes even an uncompressed .tiff setting for best quality. One small point that isn't mentioned in the manuals is the fact that even with flash selected the camera will attempt to take the picture with ambient light. This means that the camera will select a shutter speed of say 8th of a second and balance with the flash. The effect is one of slow sync flash photography and if you are not expecting it the image can be spoiled. Having said that the camera produces superb quality pictures. I have used it for web designs promotional material and even recording building faults at work. This is an excellent camera.

Easy Peasy Pictures,

This review is from: Kodak DC 4800 Zoom Digital Camera (Electronics)
This is our first digital camera and we are very impressed. Previous experience with cameras has resulted in expensive trips to the developers for one or two decent pics, not so with this. We have taken pictures of such high quality both in colour and using the B&W and sepia controls that we are framing them. It's also easy and quick to download and to chop your pictures around, it's great to learn on as you just delete what you don't want. Would recommend to amateurs and more proficient users as there's plenty of scope for manual adjustment. It's also great to have instant access to your holiday pictures and be able to send them instantly over the net to anyone who is sad enough to want to see them.
