I love metal. It doesn't matter what type: symphonic, death, heavy, progressive, gothic. They are all great. But this band has taken it to a new level. Not only does the lead singer Kobra Paige deliver amazing power-vocals, the instruments are well played and the sound blended in a great way.
1. 50 Shades of Evil
This song is very upbeat and has a very good lyrical hook as well as great and memorable guitar riffs. Never at any point does the song feel as though it is dragging on, in fact, after it is over, you feel as though you want more.
2. Welcome to My Funeral
This song is another upbeat track. It has a great flowing sound that never stops, and the bass is constant and powerful. The vocals, again, are powerfully delivered and all other elements not only accompany them, but make the song their own as well.
3. Heaven's Veins
One of my favorite songs for two reasons: it has extremely powerful vocal content, and it has extremely powerful lyrical content. It left me as feeling as though the song was too "deep" for me to truly understand.
4. Forever One
The message of this song is very powerful. It is about a united world whose voice can be heard as one, and it will remain to be heard as one "forever" hence the title. The entire song features a "clapping" beat that really makes you feel as though you are part of the song and by extension, part of the message: that you and everyone else really will be "Forever One."
5. My Life
Though, when I initially heard this song, I did not like it, after listening to it several times, I really connected with the message. It is about becoming your own person, and making your own decisions and by doing so claiming your life as your own.
Fastest song out of the album--or at least it keeps the same tempo upbeat tempo for the longest. The lyrics are great and delivered with Kobra's great voice. It is made memorable both by the great vocals and the great instrumentals.
Slow. Very slow. But it is probably one of the most moving of the songs. As more and more emotions are put into the lyrics, the louder and louder the guitar, bass, and drums get until finally it feels as though you are listening to a power-ballad, which is not a bad thing at all. In fact, this might actually be my favorite song, however, it is really hard to decide.
8. Lover of the Beloved
This is another songs where the vocals and lyrical content are what truly make it shine. It has a great message, and though it may be hard to understand at first, you will realize that they are moving. The guitar strumming is slower, but, overall, this is definitely one of my favorite tracks.
9. No Rest for the Wicked
This song has a nice upbeat drum that sets the overall tone. Though it is not my favorite, it is a great addition to the album.
10. Aria of Kamika
My favorite song of the album. Not only does it have influences from symphonic metal, it also has great operatic vocals at both the beginning and the end, showcasing the smooth, angelic voice of Kobra, given the listeners a different perspective. It's truly powerfully, moving with its great lyrics and vocals, and it has an amazing blend of instrumentals to give the listeners a great experience and the perfect ending to the album.
Overall, I would recommend this album to everyone who loves metal and even to some who do not. The songs have great meaning, and all band members are very talented. I will definitely be watching this band.
