The eponymous Adiboo in fact takes a back seat and it's his mate, a seafaring sort by the name of Leonardo who guides you through the activities, all of which are geared towards completing a story book. The interface takes the form of a beach scene and Leonardo helps you find your way around. In the Writing Tower you can compose your story, draw and colour the scenes and add narration. You can add music and sound effects in the Congo Bongos, create additional drawings and covers in the Drawing Chest and view your finished story, complete with cross-fade transitions in the Storytem Pole.
If your drawing skills aren't up to scratch you can get tuition in the Art Vessel, following along step-by-step to create simple line drawings. Not all the activities are computer-based. Cards in a bottle activities show you how to master simple techniques such as creating textured backgrounds, stencils and even an authentic-looking treasure map. The guidance is gentle and if you want to you can completely ignore Leonardo and do whatever takes your fancy, though some of the activities rely on the results of others to get the most from them.
For young children who feel more comfortable with structured and guided activities, and let's face it, most of us are intimidated by a blank canvas, Adiboo Presents Drawing makes an excellent introduction to creative writing and illustration. --Ken McMahon
