Well I won't give a synopsis of the film as it's already been done on here. Just wanted to write a review to say that I enjoyed this film - kind of. It reminded me a lot of Signs (though it's not as good), in that the leading man is morose, depressed and in silent despair. Even the interior shots of his house were depressing! Couple of annoying things were the fact that for some reason Nic Cage was forced to keep saying his son's name, (Caleb), every five minutes, and that Caleb himself could barely string his dialogue together without mumbling his lines. The set pieces (the disasters) were very well done, and there were a few breathtaking moments in the film. The ending wasn't surprising particularly but the last shots of the children running through the fields of corn were horribly mawkish and really not needed. The ending, featuring Nic Cage and his parents and sister hugging and the CGI that followed was sobering.
All in all, not that bad a film. The idea behind it was a superb one, but you just get the feeling that given a different director it could have been done slightly better?
