When a group of martial arts-loving students form Fighting Club, their aim is to make their names as stunt performers in Hollywood. Instead, they find themselves the target for the merciless Dr. Dachanon, who kidnaps their friends and forces them to face-off against trained assassins as part of a violent game in which they have only two options: fight or die.

Pulling together some of the martial arts scene’s rising stars, Knockout is the creation of Panna Rittikrai, writer and stunt co-ordinator on the original Ong-Bak, and director of Ong Bak: The Beginning. Featuring everything from Capoeira and Free Running to Taekwondo and Thai Boxing, this is an adrenaline-pumped thriller packed with high-octane action, bone-crunching fight sequences and stunts that have to be seen to be believed.

I really enjoyed this film. Yes there is some atrocious acting here and there, but the main protagonists get a pass mark - and the fighting is superb, and there's a lot of it! Well choreographed, with plenty of 'have that!' moments! The comedy elements also worked for me, and the film manages to create sufficient injustice to make you want the bad guys to get it! Nice!

What this film really badly needs is a stunt/fight choreographer and director like Samo Hung or any of Jackie Chan's team. The skills displayed by the various cast are wasted by the poor filming and direction, that said, the skills are worth watching by themselves. Don't look for story or plot but simply enjoy the undoubted athletic ability and originality displayed-similar to 'Raging Phoenix' the mixture of martial arts and forms of break dancing are amazing.

Thailand seems to be the place to go for top quality fights these days and Bangkok Knockout futher solidfies its position as the top deliverer of fight action. First lets get this straight the story and acting is atrocious, there are no familar faces such as Tony Jaa or Jee Ja Yanin (other than Patrick Tang from Raging Pheonix and director Panna Rittikrai) instead stunt men and women are placed in front of the camera and forced to go through the motions before the next fight scene.

Hopefully now your expectations are lowered for the story telling department. It is the fight scenes that shines through and they deliver some of the best fights that are reminiscent of old HK films and have been sorely been lacking of the late. Many of the main "stars" are given an oppotunity to display some form of fighting and they are all capable in front of the camera. Each hit is showcased, so you are witnessing actual contact which makes the fighting all the more exciting. Choreography is also in top form featuring creativity all showcased in long, wide angle shots for the viewing pleasure. Wire work is used more this time compred to Panna Rittikrai earlier efforts (Ong Bak 1&2 and Chocolate) but they are used to enhance movements as well as the flow of the execution of the moves. Stunt work also needs to be mentioned, the likes of Ong bak and Chocolate featured some mind blowing stunts and Bangkok Knockout follows suit. Some will leave you spell bind and question the limits of human pain tolerance.

After the likes of Chocolate and Raging pheonix you would think females would be given more opportunities to shine but they are reduced to being a bit weak and pathetic in this feature.

Being a fan of thai martial arts flicks and owning the ong bak series, warrior king, chocolate, raging phoenix, fireball. I had high hopes for this movie due to the director panna ritikrai previous outings has stunt director of ong bak and directing onk bak 2. The acting was so bad it had me in stitches. The story has no depth, not even on par with fireball which wasnt great. The action and fighting scenes are well below standards you expect from panna. It is like a bad thai tv series turned into a movie. The one and only thing I liked was panna doing some on screen fighting but even that wasnt great. Sorry but dont waste your money on this movie as Im gutted I did!!
