Classic REAL lrish Music,
By
This review is from: In Knocknagree (Audio CD)
There's always a lot of uninspired "Irish" instrumental music about, as well as some that's got too clever and missed the point. I used to play the music (badly)with kind and tolerant Irish musicians back in the '70's and having got a tape of the album years ago (and lost it) I was only to grateful to the internet to get another, because this is the real thing.
You've concertina and melodeon players getting the essentials out of good dance tunes (and a couple of slow airs) with a tremendously exciting verve and drive that doesn't lose the melody or rhythm. The audience clearly love it , too. This is inspiring, uplifting music that gets you in the gut. If you have any love - or even mere liking - for Irish music, BUY IT. This is a clssic.

In Knocknagree . Noel Hill and Tony Mac Mahon,

This is irish music at it's best full of atmosphere and brilliantly played. Unlike lots of Irish recorded music you can really hear every note played and with the dancers in the backround you feel like your there with them. If I could only have one Irish album this would be it.

A Must For St. Patrick's Day,

Squeezebox gets no better than this. This is "bare bones" music at it's best. True Irsh music lovers will eat this recording up, but at the very least it should be played in every tavern on March 17th. If these guys don't get your foot tapping, check your pulse.

A trip to the Ireland of my Grandfather.,
By Joseph Miskell - Published on Amazon.com

I would like to see a video to go along with this. It's hard to believe anyone could play so fast and sound so good. Traditional Irish music just doesn't get any better than this. The tapping of the dancers feet in the background adds to the atmosphere of this CD and makes you feel like you were there for the recording session!

Excellent recording -- a classic for concertina fans,

This is a really great and entertaining CD featuring Noel Hill on anglo concertina and Tony MacMahon on button accordion, along with live dancers. Still a best-seller after many years, and with good reason.
