classic soul from one of the greats,
By soul man (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Knock on Wood: the Best of Eddie Floyd (Audio CD)
This album's 22 tracks showcase Eddie Floyd's Stax recordings from 1966 to 1974. One of the great soul voices, Floyd effortlessly demonstrates his versatility. This collection ranges through dancefloor stormers 'Knock On Wood' and 'Big Bird', the Impressions-smooth 'I've Never Found A Girl To Love Me Like You Do', tear-your-heart-out emotion in the deep soul 'Consider Me' and the peace and love brothers and sisters plea 'People, Get It Together'. Backed by the best house band ever, with unrivalled musicianship and sky-high production values, this is soul music at its very best.

The cover is real the rest.........,
This review is from: Knock on Wood: Best of Eddie Floyd (Audio CD)
The cover of this CD is real the same as the original caming out on CD in the serie "Masters-Atlantic-Atco" but for the rest this is not what I expected to hear, the original has other titles and of course with the help of this great studio group Booker T and friends it is the only one you need to hear

This is the original album, not a compilation!,
By Idontknow - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Knock on Wood (Audio CD)
As far as I know, this is the only place to find Eddie's delightful covers of "But It's Alright" (J.J. Jackson), "I Don't Want To Cry" (Chuck Jackson), and "If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody" (James Ray), all better than the originals in my opinion. Plus of course his classic soul smash "Knock On Wood", and the lesser hit "Raise Your Hand". Anyone who likes good old southern soul: get this album! |
