Riddled with mistakes, 24 Nov 2006
This review is from: 365 Knitting Stitches a Year (Calendar)
I bought this when I first started knitting and was so excited at the prospect of learning a new stitch every day. Imagine my frustration when I couldn't even get the first stitch...January 1...to work. Of course, I thought it was my fault and kept trying and trying, only to give up and move on. I soon gave up on the idea of using it as a daily learning tool since I seemed to be having a lot of trouble with what looked so basic. Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across a very long list of errata a year or so later. If I hadn't been so determined to learn to knit, this calendar alone would have made me put down the needles and give up.

A real present for all knitters!, 5 Sep 2002
This review is from: 365 Knitting Stitches a Year (Calendar)
This much-awaited calendar will make a beautiful present for any enthusiastic knitter. The stitches are clearly explained and shown in full colour, never too dark,so even non-native English speakers can easily translate and check whether their realization is correct. There is a preliminary section devoted to abbreviations and an index at the end,so you can immediately detect where your favourite stich is.It is spiral-bound,so it doesn't fall apart when you turn the pages. After giving similar perpetual calendars to others,I couldn't really wait for anybody to order this for me,so I bought it myself.I'll surely give it-at least show it-to other dedicated knitters.A few more complex stitches could have been included and this explains the missing fifth star...

365 knit patterns, 16 Jan 2009
This review is from: 365 Knitting Stitches a Year (Calendar)
We all need a calendar to keep our days straight. What better way than with one that also gives you a different knitting stitches each and every day?
This 6" x 5" stand-up desk calendar begins with a list of abbreviation definitions. You know, things like K = Knit and yf = yarn forward. It continues with a list of Special Instructions such as the definition of Cable 3 left and Cross 2 right.
Now you actually begin the year. Each day has a color photo of a knitted swatch and a knit pattern. January 1st is Basket Rib. It gives you the directions for creating the Basket Rib pattern. You can use this calendar again and again as there are no days of the week given, just the month and day.
If you work it right, you can make several Afghans out of just trying your hand at each stitch by creating squares of the same size. Then just whip stitch them together into an afghan. With 365 different squares, you will be able to have several ready to give by next Christmas!
