4.0 out of 5 stars great if you love kintting and your dog 6 Jan 2006
The patterns vary in difficulty, most would not be suitable for inexperienced knitters. They include saddle-bags, waterproof hoddies, leg warmers (helpful for arthritic dogs??!), chew toys, roll necks, and even ponchos.
Lots of fun stuff, and pictures throughout of a variety of dogs wearing the knitted items.
There is also a size guide, so that you can measure your dog and adjust the patterns accordingly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lucky dogs! 18 May 2007
If you are a dog owner - or dog lover, I defy you not to pick up this book and go `aaaahh'. There are cute pictures of dogs wearing their finery all posing nicely for the camera. Whether your horrible hound would look quite so cute after rolling in the undergrowth is another matter! However there really are some wonderful designs here, modeled by some wonderful dogs.

The designs in this book use a range of knitting techniques. Dog coats, being typically smaller than a human garment are an ideal way to try or practice new skills. There are designs that use lace, fairisle, cable... and ought to provide something for knitters of all experience levels.

The book is actually a collection of designs from different designers, and the 96 colour pages are broken into sections. The introduction explains why a dog might need a sweater and also includes useful information about choosing a yarn suitable for a dog coat. Essentially it also includes information about customising the fit of the sweaters, how to put the sweater on even the most fidgety of dogs, and handy tips for caring for the sweater.

The everyday sweaters are the sweaters that a dog might wear for a walk round the block on a chilly morning, or a play in the park, and include a range of fixing types and styles. There is even a rain resistant coat and Hoodie! This section includes instructions on how to monogram your handiwork!

The `haute' coats are extremely fancy coats for special occasions. These are adorable designs including a sequined coat - modeled by two delightful Yorkies, and coat knitted in bobble stitch modeled by a poodle. The fancy lace capelet is gorgeous and could be adapted so it wasn't just for dogs!

3.0 out of 5 stars Dogtastic! 28 Nov 2005

This book is completely bonkers and great if you want a good laugh.
I have several friends who own dogs and can't wait to show them this book; they will think I'm even more eccentric than they do already.
I was particularly amused by the dog and owner poncho set; my friend will love that for when she's walking her bearded collie in Delamere Forest.
Some of the patterns are practical - the flea collar is good and I liked the devilish cat-shaped toy. The studded collar / wristlets combo for a punky pooch and owner was also fun.
The patterns are undeniably cute but it's a very American concept to dress your pet in a daft outfit. This book doesn't go as far as showing dogs wearing stupid hats but I'm not sure how many pooches could carry these knitted creations off with their doggy dignity intact.

Rather fussy designs not very practical mostly unclear confusing patterns - not really for beginners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute little knits.. 11 Dec 2008
just the book for your pampered Pooch...

Let him/her be the best dressed Pooch on the block.. with these lovely cute little numbers..

a real must for any pampered princess or prince.. !!

there are even some toys to knit.. if you like that kinda thing...

little shruggs, scarfs...jumps and belly warmers... right funny and funky... love it.

I DID NOT GET THIS ITEM FROM AMAZON though.. !! it never arrived.. I ended up buying it from a pet shop in Australia... !!

HOWEVER amazon did email me every month to say that they were still trying to get this for me.. but that was over a year ago.. !!

Probably best to buy it elsewhere.. !! as a year is a long time to wait Amazon.. !!
