Product Description

Product Description

For more than a decade, Koigu Wool Designs has been a revered source for top-quality handpainted merino yarn and exquisite patterns. Its wools feature a unique and rich palette that's as gorgeous as a painter's. Now, the many needleworkers who are positively obsessive about Koigu can make 25 of the company's best designs and learn more about how owners Maie and Taiu Landru achieve their amazing technicolour results. Over 100 photographs, many shot on location at the Koigu farm, showcase the special wool-dyeing process and fashionable garments, while a special essay discusses the family's background, Maie's influences and Koigu's day-to-day workings.

Inspiring 12 Aug 2009
Format:Hardcover
This is an American book of knitting patterns using 4 ply Koigu wool (which is incredibly expensive to buy at about £16 for 50g) and modular knitting techniques. However the designs are stunning and it is possible to use other yarns if you can get the right tension. Some of the designs made up of individual squares can even be worked using fewer stitches if your tension (like mine) is too loose. Not for the faint-hearted or beginner but if you yearn to be more creative with your knitting I recommend this book.

Disappointment 9 Mar 2012
By mc
Format:Hardcover
When I saw this book I thought it looked intriguing, I liked the colours and the effects of the knitting. However I was less than happy with the instructions and the outcome of the Jazz Cardigan. I knitted the child's one first intending to do the larger one for me afterwards. However I was very disappointed with the outcome, have tried it a second time and still not impressed, they say in the blurb for the book that the patterns have detailed instructions, I didn't find this for this pattern.
Not at all impressed and would not recommend it.

This is a stunning book for anyone wanting to try modular knitting.
The instructions are clear and concise and the photo`s of the finished garments are fabulous.
