What a good read. The author Jordan captures a light hearted theme, with a rather dark topic. The main character, Carlisle struggles within herself to accept the changes which have made her a vampire. She shy's away from human interaction, only going out for the necessities, like a quick human snack. During her nightly travels, Carlisle saves a young girl Bronwyn, returning her safely to her parents home. A few years later Bronwyn is a grown woman. Carlisle finds herself once again the saver. Circumstances change, leaving Bronwyn homeless and in the arms of Carlisle. Carlisle struggles against her attraction for Bronwyn. As their relationship deepens, Carlisle's past catches up to her. She meets both friend and foe as she struggles to keep Bronwyn alive and human. The essence of a good old Vampire story, rather unpredictable.

I recently saw and was blown away by the lesbian short film "In Twilight's Shadow" - Who wouldn't want to be rescued by the stunning biker babe bad girl vamp Carlise? One of the most exciting lesbian offerings I've seen in ages! I noticed from the credits that In Twilight's Shadow was based on a story by Jordan Falconer that has been polished and published as the novel "Knight Predator" - released by Mindancer Press. Excitedly I ordered my copy and have just finished it. Very disappointed, alas.

It's not all bad. The character of bad-girl biker vamp Crowley is fabulous and its nice to see a lesbian vampire romance written by a female author. The scene where Crowley dons a tux and takes Bronwyn to her school formal is just beautiful!

However, there are many things that are not fully explained or don't add up. The romance feels one sided and is not particularly convincing. The back story is rather OTT melodrama feeling like bad fan-fic than actually necessary to the overall story. And since "vampire love is all about emotion, sex can't enter into the equation" this makes the novel rather unsexy - a big no no when you are dealing with two sinfully hot babes in love! Also for a OTP romance there are far too many past lovers on both sides to make this a satisfying romance.

Glad this is out there, but it is disappointing, still, you could do a lot worse!
