Product Description

Product Description

Corny is a hot chick with a great job that she loves. All that changed in the blink of an eye when her boss had an accident involving an oversized rubber band. She’s still a hot chick, but her boss is dead.

Steve Spears is a seasoned narcotics cop who ends up wanting to strangle Corny on a regular basis. After finding out Corny’s dream of opening a pet detective business, he decides he doesn’t want a girlfriend who routinely puts herself in danger. That’s his job!

Corny misses Steve, but she’s getting on with her life. She decides to get a month’s worth of dating out of the way in a single night, by combining her three favorite things—men, food, and alcohol.

Steve’s big gun and cop’s intuition saves Corny’s life, but not from another trip to the emergency room. He makes Corny promise never to get hurt again—she agreed, but has her fingers crossed behind her back.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Doolittle in spikes 29 Aug 2012
By A. Mosa
Format:Kindle Edition
Klutzy Love is the prequel to Ms. Kleve's earlier book, Flamingo Blues. In Klutzy Love, the reader learns how Corny Myers, who possesses the unique ability to converse with animals, met her boyfriend, Steve, a Seattle policeman. The story starts with the knucklehead son of her late boss taking over the business. When things go from bad to worse at work, Corny decides to pursue her dream of becoming a pet detective so she can both utilize her talent with animals and be her own boss.

Corny is feisty and fun and before she can do anything too ditzy, Steve is there to keep her grounded and safe. Once again, Ms. Kleve has written a fast paced, light-hearted, and enjoyable story filled with very likeable characters both two-legged and four-legged.

5.0 out of 5 stars Klutzy Love 28 Aug 2012
By Joanne Duncan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Klutzy Love is witty and fast paced. Corny Myers pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a Pet Detective, while an unexpected romance blossoms with a Narcotics Detective. Throw in a prankster ferret and you have the perfect recipe for an entertaining read. I highly recommend this book, it will leave you smiling.
2.0 out of 5 stars Huge potential but felt too immature 13 Sep 2014
By K. April Holgate - Published on Amazon.com
I loved the concept of this book and there were some parts that really tickled me. Unfortunately there is a lot that needs to be improved. I really wanted to love this series but the flaws outweighed the delight.

Most of the time Corny is a fun quirky character who is a walking calamity. I liked her and loved her sassy remarks. The problem was the dialogue did not quite reach the maturity level her age warranted. She often spouts dialogue more appropriate to a Disney Channel show.

Steve is a yummy cop and I mostly loved him. He is a bit overbearing at times and ridiculous in his reasons for not wanting her to be a pet detective. Not really a job that makes me think there will be loads of danger.

This has a mixed narrative, you get both Corny and Steve in the POV. Again, not really living up to their age in thought or word. It feels more YA or New Adult, with bedroom scenes included.

I did not like the work stuff. Everything with the bosses son was a bit convoluted. It really wasn't needed for the overall plot and distracted from the romance and mystery. The possibility of a murder plot on her old boss is completely waved over.

Here are the things I loved an wish had been more a part of the plotline:
1. The whole pet psychic angle, that was super interesting and held huge potential.
2. Naughty ferret Pete, he was a riot!!
3. Corny's quirky klutzy moments. The speed dating was hilarious.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Christy Williamson, who is not the right fit for this book. She has a very youthful voice that would be better suited for YA reads. While she has great energy, it only adds to the overall feel of immaturity in the story. This just wasn't the right pairing, it only served to highlight flaws. I would love to hear her on a younger read where her voice would be a real credit to the material.

The series is a very short read, so I will finish it. I hope it gets better because the concept has potential.

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, Funny, Five Stars! 27 Sep 2012
By Daisey Lavender - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
A humorous read. At times, I laughed so hard I couldn't see the page. Corny, the heroine, is fun-loving, witty, and can talk to animals. A charming quality I enjoyed about the story. Steve is a handsome and noble narcotics cop who genuinly cares for Corny. Well rounded characters, even Pete, the ferret, had a personality all his own. A somewhat spicy story with elements of suspense skillfully woven in. Five Stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Klutzy Love is a winner! 3 Sep 2012
By WashingtonGrrl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Klutzy Love is a feel good, light-hearted romp with sprinkles on top. Corny Myers has the quirky ability to talk to the animals, although what her four-legged friends say is slightly different than what you might expect! (Think Dr. Doolittle meets Ted :-) The romance with her boy toy, a Seattle Narcotics officer, steams up the hilarious antics of the slightly klutzy, slightly ditzy Corny. Klutzy Love is fun, fast paced and will definitely leave you wanting more.
