The best iPhone earphones I have ever used, by far,

Annoyingly, I am a serial iPhone headset loser. Combined with a desire to use high quality units, this is not a cheap or sensible trait.Over the past 3 years I have tried (and lost) the Apple High Quality 2 Driver Headset, 2 pairs of VModa Vibes, and assorted cheaper headphones. This pair is in a different league. The sound quality is absolutely outstanding. Crisp, clear, sharp, well defined. I have found myself listening to mp3s that I've listened to many times before with a completely new dimension. I am blown away, and won't lose these ones... they are too good! In addition, they have the correct 3 switch Apple interface, so changing songs and volume is easy. Not cheap, but at the pricerange I'd be surprised if they can be beaten.

Normally I spend around £35 on some Sennheiser headphones. I have a pretty keen ear so I can easily tell the difference between these.First the sound quality. The sound quality is excellent. It is breathy at the top, a little weak at the bottom but otherwise very level. No real colouration. It is definitely sharper than previous headphones I have owned. This can be good and bad. The better response means that your ears tire faster, and poorly mixed records are noisy, where those recording & mixing mistakes would have previously been hidden by inferior headphones. As headphones, they are very good. I would recommend them for listening to classical, piano and jazz. I would not recommend them for listening to rock or metal - they don't have the low end to make the music sound powerful. BUT! The build quality is terrible. Absolutely rubbish. The wires are thin and fragile, the remote is a tacky plastic; it has the feel some cheap chinese knock-off. Unfortunately, I can tell they won't last me more than 12 months before they are knackered. Worse still, the earbuds are symmetric (as opposed to the asymmetric ones you hang around your neck), so you can't be quite sure what to do with them when you're not listening to them. They come with a useless clip which fell off the first time I went out. So sadly, for the money, this is a 100% don't buy. Four stars for sound quality, 1 star for poor construction.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
I have never been a big fan of in-ear phones either from a sound quality or comfort point of view, much preferring to listen with my Sennheiser PX100s. However, the Sennheisers can be a bit bulky when used out and about so I was quite pleased to be able to try this easily portable design from Klipsch. I was also able to try the Panasonic RP-HJE700E-S phones recently and was very disappointed with them - I wondered how the Klipsch would compare.Wow, these Image S4i phones from Klipsch are a revelation! They are the most impressive and comfortable in-ear phones I've ever used, and they have completely changed my opinion of this type of listening. Klipsch is an American audio company that has been making loudspeakers and headphones for more than sixty years, manly for professional and high end home use; it sounds like all that experience has ended up in these S4i's! The highly regarded Image S4's have been around for a couple of years and these S4i's use the same driver units, but also have an easily accessible control for certain Apple i products. If you have any of these - iPhone 3GS, 3GB iPod shuffle, 3GB iPod touch, 5GB iPod nano and iPod Classic 120GB then it's worth considering the S4i over the S4. I have an iPod Classic 120GB, and that is the only source I have used with these S4i's, and the products are very compatible. Klipsch have put a lot of effort into maximising the sound from the iPod. The S4i comes with a selection of ear-tips, and getting the right fit is important - well worth spending a bit of time on. Once you have found the right ones for you the S4i's should be very comfortable and give a great listening experience with good volume and bass - did for me! The three button control is very intuitive and easy to use; top button - volume up. Bottom button - volume down, middle button, 1 click pause/play, 2 clicks skip forward, 3 clicks skip back. A useful feature for cold days when your Apple product is tucked away under layers of clothing! I couldn't try the mic as I don't have an iPhone. The Klipsch Image S4i is a high end product that can give outstanding results; if you don't need the convenience of the remote control then also consider the Image S4. Even at the price I must still give the S4i five stars as it is just so right for Apple products. The only slight niggle - if the carrying case was slightly larger it could hold my iPod as well!
