Annoyingly, I am a serial iPhone headset loser. Combined with a desire to use high quality units, this is not a cheap or sensible trait.

Over the past 3 years I have tried (and lost) the Apple High Quality 2 Driver Headset, 2 pairs of VModa Vibes, and assorted cheaper headphones.

This pair is in a different league. The sound quality is absolutely outstanding. Crisp, clear, sharp, well defined. I have found myself listening to mp3s that I've listened to many times before with a completely new dimension. I am blown away, and won't lose these ones... they are too good!

In addition, they have the correct 3 switch Apple interface, so changing songs and volume is easy. Not cheap, but at the pricerange I'd be surprised if they can be beaten.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised! 19 Oct 2009
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have tried a number of in-ear phones and have been left disappointed by them all, finding them too uncomfortable to wear for a period of time to justify the superior sound quality over the standard earphones provides by Apple. With these reservations, I plugged the S4i's into my iPod touch with low expectations, and initially my prejudices were confirmed, with the standard rubber inserts being uncomfortable and sound quality poor. However, with a little perseverance and experimentation with the other size inserts provided, I found a set that fitted perfectly and could enjoy the excellent bass and range of these little wonders.

Hip-hop, Jazz, Folk, Dance, Rock, Classical: the sound quality was superb no matter the genre of music I threw at the S4i's. (An added bonus is that the snug fit blocked out all but the noisiest of external noise, so I could have the volume low whilst still blocking out the terrible Musak during a trip to the shops!)

Also included is a clip to fasten the the earphones lead to a lapel giving you easy access to the inbuilt controls and microphone, wax cleaners(!) and a handy pouch to keep everything stored away tidily when not in use.

All-in-all, I'm extremely impressed with the Klipsch S4i's and now consider myself a convert to in-ear phones. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars At last!!! 27 July 2010
Over the last few years I've failed to find much quality + durability in the earphones range with call pickup microphones.

I've binned maybe 4 sets of SkullCandy Full Metal Jackets (after 3-4 months they ALWAYS broke a wire inside near the plug, losing sound in one ear) and an equivalent number of V-Moda Duo's (same wire breakage problem, and these additionally had a big issue with amplifying noise of wires rubbing on shirt in through the headset, and the location of the microphone pickup button meant it always used to catch on my shirt collar)

At £80, Klipsch are more expensive than V-Moda & SkullCandy, but have superior sound, no noise from wire friction on the shirt, no buttons getting hooked on my shirt collar, and seems to be passing the durability test so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it 17 Sep 2010
Normally I spend around £35 on some Sennheiser headphones. I have a pretty keen ear so I can easily tell the difference between these.

First the sound quality. The sound quality is excellent. It is breathy at the top, a little weak at the bottom but otherwise very level. No real colouration. It is definitely sharper than previous headphones I have owned. This can be good and bad. The better response means that your ears tire faster, and poorly mixed records are noisy, where those recording & mixing mistakes would have previously been hidden by inferior headphones. As headphones, they are very good. I would recommend them for listening to classical, piano and jazz. I would not recommend them for listening to rock or metal - they don't have the low end to make the music sound powerful.

BUT! The build quality is terrible. Absolutely rubbish. The wires are thin and fragile, the remote is a tacky plastic; it has the feel some cheap chinese knock-off. Unfortunately, I can tell they won't last me more than 12 months before they are knackered. Worse still, the earbuds are symmetric (as opposed to the asymmetric ones you hang around your neck), so you can't be quite sure what to do with them when you're not listening to them. They come with a useless clip which fell off the first time I went out.

So sadly, for the money, this is a 100% don't buy. Four stars for sound quality, 1 star for poor construction.

I can't argue with the sound quality but realistically not hugely better than others I've had for half the price.
The main negaitve is how long they've lasted-the insulation where the cable joins the jack has broken after only 4 months.
For the price premium I expect this weak spot to be more sturdy than this. I can't recommend these at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Specified and Fantastic Sounding 22 Oct 2009
By Brian Hamilton TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I am a bit of an audiophile and snapped these up when they appeared on Amazon Vine. I do not have a 3rd gen iPod Shuffle or iPhone so cannot comment on the controller built into the cable on these phones. What I will concentrate on in this review is the build and sound quality.

First up, the build of these phones is pretty plasticky but at this price point these things normally do feel pretty cheap. This is not a criticism, I like my phones to be light and these are really, really lightweight. The build quality feels pretty good but the cable could do with being thicker (again, a common criticism for IEM's at this and even higher price points).

However, like all things, these phones will last if you take care of them. I found the cable length just about perfect, the only minor niggle is the length of cable after it splits could have been even a couple of inches longer for the sake of comfort.

I have itching to experience the Klipsch sound after reading about the brand on various forums, they specialise in speakers and some naysaysers have criticised the Klipsch sound signature as being too bright. I totally disagree and loved the sound from these IEM's

Before listening to them I burnt them in for about two days. I then selected the large silicone tips and found I could achieve a good tight seal without having to shove them into my brain.

The sound, OMG the sound! These are heavenly, the presentation is open and airy. There is no veil to the sound, the bass, mid and treble sit nicely without being overly bright or artificially emphasized. To my ears the blend was enjoyable and did not cause fatigue even after extended listening session.

A track I often use to audition phones is Trophy by Bat For Lashes.
