Kleerup is best known in the UK for his collaboration with Robyn on 'With Every Heartbeat' and co-writing/producing 'Lay Me Down' on Cyndi Lauper's 'Bring Ya To The Brink' album. Robyn's track is included here in all its beauty and 'Lay Me Down' appears in a new virtually instrumental guise now entitled 'Thank You For Nothing'. It says much for Kleerup's talent that these are by no means the album highlights.
Most of the tracks here play with a similar keyboard motif, a spacey progressive house sound and melancholy chord sequences. The standout is the next UK single - 'Longing For Lullabies - which is an emotional reflection on dealing with loss and moving on from the past. It may well bring you to tears, even after repeated listening. Lykke Li is guest vocalist on the fragile, haunting 'Until We Bleed'. '3am' is a more traditionally 'dance pop' track but is still underpinned by a sense of sadness and longing.
This is a beautiful album that uses the widescreen production of progressive house as a stark contrast to sensitive, personal lyrics.
