Product Description
"Klartext" is a two-part course taking the beginner through to GCSE German; it is particularly suitable for those taking German GCSE over a period of three years or less. It aims to provide a systematic, organized approach to assist rapid progress. "Book 1" covers the basic ground and is an ideal text for the first stage of a GCSE course; "Book 2" revisits key language structures, broadens the topic coverage and focuses closely on the skills and knowledge required for a good grade in the full German GCSE. The second edition of "Klartext" has been updated to take account of the Euro and all the assessment material has been revised in line with the revised style of testing in GCSE papers. Progress through the course follows two parallel strands: a sysematic presentation of the major language structures in German, with each spread focusing on one specific grammar point, suing exmples in a lively context and practising the poing through a series of interesting tasks; and a storyline which follows the lives and relationships of a group of German-speaking characters, which moves the course through the various topics specified for GCSE and ensures a good quality and quantity of cultural input.

About the Author
Richard Marsden has taught German in a range of schools, and to adult learners. He is also an experienced writer of resource materials and a senior examiner at GCSE and A level; he is widely involved in teacher training and syllabus development. Elizabeth Gobey teaches German at the Minster School, Southwell. Philip Horsfall, the consultant editor, has extensive experience in teaching, examining, writing and inspection. Currently working as a PGCE tutor in the Department of Educational Studies at York University, he has written a range of GCSE textbooks.
