Klarstein Cleanfriend Basic Robotic Vacuum Cleaner - Red

Initial Impressions
The Karstein smart Cleaner is rather less smart than I expected. Unlike the Roomba it has no docking station and has to be manually plugged into it's charger. It has three cleaning cycles:
a. Spot - 1 metre round strting point
b. Full room 30 minutes
c. Full room until battery runs down.
I cannot comment on the pattern used as I have not seen other robotic cleaners in operation.
Construction
The cleaner is light and easily carried using the handle. It is mainly constructed of plastic materials but seems reasonably robust and looks smart. The impact bumper gets marked quite quickly.
Movement Ability
The cleaner is large 330 mm. dia. so is not going to be able to manouvre in tight spaces ( e.g. between table legs round a dining table). This means that a fair amount of clearing the floor has to take place before the cleaner can operate effectively. The cleaner is low profile to get under furniture and so has low ground clearance. A 2o mm. carpet edge is too high for it to descend effectively; it gets stuck. It also stops on a dense thick pile Persian rug. It can also be stopped by rug fringes and thin electrical flexes.
Cleaning
It certainly picks up dust and dirt as hown by the contents of the collection bin. However my wife's long hair gets wound round the brush and I have yet to attempt the necessary dismantling to clean it.

Manual
The manual is small and poorly translated. For example, I could not work out how to use the spoon supplied to add polish or how to use the cleaner to polish a floor.The manual does not state in a useful form the battery size required for the "lighthouse". There is no description of the function of the "clean brush". The manual also states that the battery should not be overcharged (ie. after the point where the charging light turns from red to green. This indicates defective design. The charge should be self limiting.
Amazon Description
The Amazon description states that the cleaner will work on carpets. It came to a halt on a thick but close pile Persian rug and failed to descend from a 2 cm. thick carpet onto a hard floor. The forward edgee of the cleanr fouls the floor because the forward roller ball is small and too far from the edge of the cleaner.

This product is very good. It has it's limits ie corners and fringed rugs but It can be set to do the floor while do other things and as a carer It saves valuable time that I can put to better use.

Got this as a gift from a friend for the holiday. Was a pretty amazing gift. Dont have to vaccuum my hardwood floors anymore. Takes a ton of the work out of cleaning. I would definintely recommend people get one of these.
