"A jewel of a book. Waddell is particularly good at the way children love hearing real stories from their own lives; this one... will be a hot favourite." The Independent on Sunday"

Product Description

Written by an award-winning author and illustrator team. Charlotte's favourite story is about a little girl and her mummy who rescue a kitten from the sea. One moonlit night, the story comes true when she finds a little lost kitten by the sea, who she calls Moonlight. Charlotte loves her story even more because it's about her!

A pleasing book and originally written. The story is taken from a conversation between mother and daughter at how they found their pet cat. This gives great scope for humour and gentle adult to child interaction, a fun way of remembering and enjoying an event that both experienced in slightly different ways. It is a feel good book, very different to others on the children's market so far. Thoughtful and incisive, a great hit with all those who've read it.

This is a story of unconditional love - a tiny lost kitten who needs it and a mother and daughter eager to give it.

Charlotte loves to hear her mother tell the story of how they found their kitten, named "Moonlight." As the mother recounts the tale of going to the sea's edge on a blustery winter night, children will relate to the trust they place in their parents.

Moreover, it is the tale of a mother and daughter, the love implicit in their relationship as the mother goes forward when the daughter insists that "There's something down there by the sea. I know that there is."

Luminous moonswept illustrations by Christian Birmingham, a talented young British artist, heighten the impact of this warmly reassuring tale. It's a feel-good story for all.

It's always difficult to select the correct book for the age group concerned so I rely mainly on reviews. I bought this book for my four year old grand daughter and it's just right. It's a lovely story for a little girl and so beautifully illustrated. I'll be buying more in this series.
