The Wolf doesn't generally DO compilations.
Kitsune Maison's Compilation 7 is, however, a worthy exception.
(Compilation and French label is really pushing it though!)
19 tracks of sparkling pristine indie and electro pop;
a diversely rich and occasionally challenging mix
from the Kitsune stable delivering hardly a dull moment.
Highlights would have to include :
The Golden Filter's 'Favorite Things' - Miss Kittin meets
Tom Tom Club - Mile High Club Music (if such a thing exists ?
- if not I claim it for myself !).
Beni's bubbly 'Fringe Element' is a hoot and a bleep and a
blast - the dirty bass is gloriously cheesy.
Chew Lips' 'Solo' is a little lo-fi cracker.
Doubtless it was created in a very small South London bedsit
but is fresh as a daisy (especially when held up next to
roadkill such as Little Boots).
Delphic's 'Counterpoint' almost made me feel like dancing.
Stripped down, trancey and as infectious as swine flu.
'Rhythm' by Renaissance Man is another blissed out minimal
space-station disco creation. Hypnotic and delightful.
Heck ! Even La Roux's 'In For The Kill' manages to sound
good in this company and wrapped up in Kitsune clothing.
Snug as a bug in a rug in fact.
Tanlines' (loving the name) 'Bejan' brings the album to a
good-natured, upbeat quasi-carribean close.
It's become part of the soundtrack to the Wolf family's summer.
Irristible Stuff !
Highly Recommended.
