Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The KitchenAid Artisan blender has a metal base and heavy duty jar which makes it robust, stable and durable. The powerful 500 watt motor and unique blade design allow for thorough blending and ultimate ice crushing, while the clean touch control pad has smart symbols which make for ease of use and function. The electronic mixing sensor automatically adjusts the power and helps make this the perfect blender for ice crushing, blending, whipping, pureeing and shaking.

Every premium KitchenAid® blender boasts a sturdy motor that delivers the power to crush ice at any speed. They also feature a sleek, compact design that requires minimal counter space. The blades are made of superior-grade stainless steel that won't corrode. All jars feature a textured lid that guarantees a strong seal, as well as a 2-ounce cap for easy measuring. Heavy-duty glass jars resist scratching and discoloration, and all jars and lids are dishwasher safe. The electronic sensor automatically adjusts power to maintain consistent blending. The KitchenAid® blender has features that make it a good investment and a long-lasting culinary tool. The blade assembly is made of a single stainless steel design with steel coupling gears to provide years of use.

KitchenAid has progressed considerably since it launched the first domestic stand mixer, a classic iconic shape of the early 20th century, designed by one of the great American style gurus, Egmont Arens, back in 1937. There is now a complete KitchenAid® Artisan™ Collection that looks equally stylish and is made with the same attention to detail as it always was. The Collection is available in the widest range of colours on the market and includes a host of beautiful, functional appliances including a blender, toaster, espresso maker, burr grinder and food processor, as well as the original mixer. All of the products have the same tactile, 'retro' look, with solid knobs, buttons and smooth curved lines. Every item in the KitchenAid Collection is still assembled by hand from reassuringly solid die-cast metal parts, receiving the individual attention to detail vital to ensuring top performance and quality. KitchenAid® stands for beautiful design, reliability, efficiency and effectiveness - built to look and feel good, but also built for function and hard work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epensive, but quality product, 4 Dec 2005
Last week I bought another blender (Dutch brand, Princess), but when I put icecubes in that blender the machine just threw them around... Returned that yesterday, bought this Kitchenaid blender after reading all the reviews here. Considered the Kenwood Smoothie Maker Pro, but that turned out to be too large and quite ugly a machine - plus, though I really liked the idea of the small tap, that makes the jar all the more difficult to clean.

Had to buy my Kitchenaid Blender in the shop downtown, couldnt get it through Amazon from the Netherlands unfortunately... (don't know why they do send books but not kitchenware to mainland Europe??).
This grey version has a nice finishing touch texture on the lower part of the blender) and am really happy :-). Icecubes, frozen fruit, hard or soft banana: it slushed everything into a pulp. Nothing like large chunks getting stuck somewhere, not at all (really makes me think some of the competition might be filling in these reviews - well, my job is not in this industry at all.

This blender makes the drinks airy too: today I realized one of the kiwis in my fruit basket had a cut in it, so I had to eat it today. Peeled it, cut in 4 or 5 parts, threw in the blender, poured in some milk...and I got the most wonderful milkshake, surprisingly rich, soft and simply perfect (and that with just these 2 ingredients).
    Cleaning is easy as ABC.

Don't know what I'd want more from a blender - only have to hope it stays this perfect for the next few years of course.

5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid 5KSB5 Ultra power Blender, 28 Mar 2006
    By A Customer
Having owned this product for some time now I thought I would add my opinion to the divided ones online. This is an excellent product; efficient, sturdily built, powerful & well designed looks-wise as well. Many reviews have commented on the blades being blunt. Today I blended some left over lamb curry from last night to make soup for lunch. after about 60 seconds of blending at various speeds the chunks of meat had disappeared. Washing is easy - take apart & bung in the dishwasher. It is now rivalling the bread maker as our most used kitchen gadget. I can only assume the negative reviews are competitors. Outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Blender, 2 Aug 2007
By L. Vincent (England) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
After much research in to blenders and smoothie makers we opted to pay more and buy the kitchen artisan. On getting it home we started experimenting, hoping we had made the right choice. We had, even at high speeds it stands solid, the lid stays put, you feel in control of it and it can blend anything, even chunky ice cubes. The smoothies we made were delicious, in a variety of different consistencies. It is cleaned fantastically easily by filling 1/3 full and blending for about 30 secs.
    Brilliant.
