Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

KitchenAid has progressed considerably since it launched the first domestic stand mixer, a classic iconic shape of the early 20th century, designed by one of the great American style gurus, Egmont Arens, back in 1937. There is now a complete KitchenAid® Artisan™ Collection that looks equally stylish and is made with the same attention to detail as it always was. The Collection is available in the widest range of colours on the market and includes a host of beautiful, functional appliances including a blender, toaster, espresso maker, burr grinder and food processor, as well as the original mixer. All of the products have the same tactile, 'retro' look, with solid knobs, buttons and smooth curved lines. Every item in the KitchenAid Collection is still assembled by hand from reassuringly solid die-cast metal parts, receiving the individual attention to detail vital to ensuring top performance and quality.

KitchenAid® stands for beautiful design, reliability, efficiency and effectiveness - built to look and feel good, but also built for function and hard work.

The KitchenAid 2 slice toaster is built of stainless steel and die cast metal making it robust and durable. The stainless steel dishwasher safe crumb tray is easy to empty and clean. This toaster has intelligent electronic heat sensors for outstanding and consistent browning, and the wide/long slots accommodate all types of bread. The controls are easy to use and the cord wraps under the base for easy storage. With all these features and stunning design, KitchenAid delivers the perfect toaster for your perfect piece of toast.

For everyone who used to think that a Dualit was the epitome of toasters. YOU WERE WRONG.
This - although it's only a toaster, is one of the best things I own. It's such a funky and unique design and works perfectly to boot.
Never had any problems with mine and it makes getting up in the morning that bit easier (I think I may be the saddest man alive to love my toaster this much)
Buy one now and make your kitchen complete!

I originally gave this toaster a 5 star review...after 2 years use - just after the guarantee expired - so did the toaster. Our friendly local electrical repair shop (who can repair anything) could not locate a replacement "control unit" and Kitchen Aid did not even have the courtesy to reply to my emails asking for sources for parts (I was not even asking them to replace the part, but just for help me locate it). For a toaster that costs this much (and doesn't even have a pop up spring) it is laughable that it can break so easily (with only light use as we only eat toast infrequently). I have learnt my lesson - maybe too late as I already own lots of Kitchenaid equipment. I'll be buying my electrical goods from an alternative manufacture in future.

What looks like a robust and well built product will let you down quickly by it's very poor reliability. I still love the look and feel of the Artisan Toaster. After 3 months the beeper failed and sounded like a shot cuckoo. Next the control knob broke and it was impossible to get a replacement. Now less than 2 years after purchase and very light usage the toaster has failed completely. What is still a great looking object, will now be sent for scrap. KitchenAid support and service in the UK is non-existent.

I bought this toaster under the misapprehension that a higher price means better quality. It does not. The toaster was replaced ...TWICE...(I am now on the third) which is working but I am not happy with it. The bread is toasted unevenly as there is no mechanism to centre the slice of bread and hold it in place, unlike many cheaper toasters. When I wiped over it with a damp cloth there was evidence of red paint on the cloth. Yes, It looks great, it is heavy and the crumb tray is stainless steel but this is all cosmetic. The electrics are inferior. My advice would be - Don't buy one - you will be disappointed!

Purchased this in 2008 (orange version), heavily discounted to about £60. It did toast the breadmaker bread pretty well, although as other reviews have said it doesn't have anthing to position the bread centrally in the toaster. Weighs a ton, I liked the bright orange splash of colour in my kitchen and it feels well constructed. However, it's just given up the ghost and judging by other comments there's no way that it's going to get fixed. So, was £15 per year worth it? No, probably not. At full price? Certainly not. We've now gone for a basic pop-up (which has a bagel setting as a bonus).

We bought this thinking that it was a better quality product and would therefore last longer and do a better job. After 2 years it became unreliable over a period of weeks and has now stopped working completely. The indicator light comes on but nothing else happens. Searching online reveals this to be a common problem. Took it to a good local repair shop who said they couldn't. So what next? Buy a £20 toaster and replace it every year for a new one perhaps - would still be cheaper in the long run.

I run a small B & B and a functional toaster is an important piece of kit - therefore, having tried and been dissapointed with many cheaper toasters I decided to splash out on an expensive model. I was seduced by the looks and style of this toaster I confess so hell mend me. However, when the toaster first arrived it didn't work correctly, and gave up the ghost completely shortly after I had had it for twenty eight days. After a lot of hassle the toaster was replaced with a new one, which a year later is only working on one side. The toaster has never toasted homemade bread correctly, taking at leasty three goes to get it brown.

A very expensive item that stopped working a week after the warranty expired (only a year old). We didn't even use it that often so feel very disappointed. Wish we'd bought a £30 toaster now!
