5.0 out of 5 stars A good Christmas present and/or stocking-filler, 15 Oct 2008
Family words, teenage slang, dialect, workplace words, armed services slang - this book shows just how inventive and witty people can be.

I didnt know so many words outside the dictionary existed. I've started using some now myself. Really like 'Splosh' for Tea!

4.0 out of 5 stars What do you say?, 22 May 2009
By Pink Curate (Norwich, UK) - See all my reviews
This is a fascinating book listing "family" words and phrases which either fill a gap for a word that doesn't exist or offer an alternative for one in common use. Too many favourites to list here; this is not a book to sit and read (though like many reference books, it's hard to put down once you pick it up) but fun to browse through. Safe to give to your granny, there's no sex or drugs or rock and roll, just delights on every page. Even better, you can submit your own "kitchen table lingo."
