Laugh Out Loud Terrific 4 Jun. 2011

Wittily written and whimsically illustrated, this cookbook is hilarious from start to finish. The drawings convey plenty of joy while providing apt instruction in everything from puttanesca sauce to pesto and latkes, and using this is plenty of fun. A wonderful addition to my cookbook collection, and probably the cutest.
Great recipes, whimsical drawings 5 April 2014
By Marcy L. Thompson - Published on Amazon.com

I learned about this book when its author appeared on Top Chef Canada. The recipes I've tried have worked well and made tasty food. They were also clearly designed for people who are not professional chefs, yet they don't talk down to the reader. The drawings are awesome.

Why, then, only four stars? Because the sense of humor was slightly grating. I found much of the book amusing, but there were just a few too many humorous asides and snarky comments. If he'd dialed that back about 15%, I'd have loved that part of the book! too. If your sense of humor matches his, you'll love this book. If it matches mine, you'll like it, but occasionally find yourself rolling your eyes in exasperation.

Recommended anyway, because on the whole I like the book quite a lot.

I enjoy the off the wall writing and the recipes 27 Jun. 2014

I enjoy the off the wall writing and the recipes. Love the colors used in the pictures, but much of the humor illustrated in the pictures is off-color, and to me, off-putting. In my kitchen, I want something a little more family friendly and less boys-night out.
