Book Description

31 Mar 2011

Fresh, young and full of enthusiasm, Donal Skehan is a real cooking talent. His passion for simple, healthy, delicious home cooking will inspire novices and more experienced cooks alike to get into the kitchen.

Armed with gorgeous, do-able recipes, Donal is the champion of the home cook.

In 2007, Donal started his own blog to record his cooking adventures and share his passion for food: http://www.thegoodmoodfoodblog.com. This book takes the blog and Donal to a new level. It contains some of the best recipes from the blog, along with plenty of new ideas. Divided into 6 chapters (Meals in Minutes, Party Food & Drinks, Salads & Sides, Comfort Food, Stretch your Meals, and Mega Desserts & Baking), you'll find quick, easy and tasty ideas for every meal.

Donal's recipes really pack a punch when it comes to flavour, but they are also wonderfully simple and straightforward, making them perfect for novice chefs and equally appealing to the more practised cook. His personality shines through on every page – from his writing, which is as fun and delicious as his food, to the stunning photographs that were all taken by Donal himself. You cannot fail to get caught up in Donal's enthusiasm for healthy home cooking.

Recipes include:
• Thai Beef and Mango Salad
• Oats and Seeds Fish with Lemon
• Mini Rustic Steak Sandwiches
• Chorizo and Spring Onion Quesadillas
• Swedish Meatballs with Dill Spring Potatoes
• Creamy Spinach Chicken Pasta
• Vodka Penne
• Blueberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake
• Classic Whoopie Pies
• Mojitos and Simple Strawberry Daiquiris

I have bought both Kitchen Hero and Good Mood Food books and have been using them non-stop for the last four weeks. I have a collection of books from Nigella, Rachel Allen, Nigel Slater, etc, but Donal's are the books I turn to when I come home from work and want to cook something quick, healthy and with everyday kitchen ingredients. We've had gorgeous Thai Chicken Curry, Lamb kofta's with raita, Chicken satay skewers, white chocolate and blueberry cheesecake and each recipe has turned out lovely. Would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple cooking just got really interesting! 6 April 2011
Format:Hardcover
As a reader of Donal's blog for years and after working my way through almost every recipe in his first book Good Mood Food: Simple, Healthy, Home Cooking it's great to see he's churning out even more great culinary wonders. From the homemade spin on the classic "Beans on Toast" to the messy delight of "Pulled Pork Burgers", the recipes strike a balance between original and classic that has me super excited to see them come to life on the TV show very soon!
